August 18 Cruel fate.

Aarrgh!!! 15 hours ago (at Swiss time 2PM) on Radio 2 of Switzerland, there was a re-broadcast of a 2010 performance of Nobu in Switzerland of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1, with Thierry Fisher conducting the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana. Sadly, I found out about it only just now! I missed this broadcast by hours when it was aired live in 2010, and I missed it again today!!! I would dearly love to hear Nobu play this concerto. He has not performed it since that one time.

I recently bought my favourite pianist, Nobuyuki Tsujii’s CD through Amazon. It is a beautiful collection featuring the work of Chopin and Listz. Although I absolutely adore his talent, his Heroic Polonaise was just too elegant for my liking. When it comes to Chopin’s greatest work, it has to be Vladimir Horowitz.

However, Nobuyuki Tsuji is just right for me for La Campanella. He is certainly a talented young man, but not as gifted as Horowitz.

本物に触れられる環境上野学園大音楽を学問として研究

全盲のピアニスト辻井伸行さんを世に出した名門として知られ、四百人近い学生の大半が演奏家や音楽教師になる夢を抱く。一方、少数派の「ミュージック・リサーチ・コース」は歴史や理論、古典講読を重視し、音楽を体系的な学問として追究する。

二十二人の学生に対し、五人の教授らが集中的に教える少数精鋭型。ただ、基本的には自主性を重んじる。自らの発想で自由に学べるようにと、図書館などにはバッハの自筆譜面などの原典、古楽器を収集し、「本物に直接触れられる環境」を整えている。学長代理の船山信子教授（７３）は、「かつてはロックの研究をした人もいた」と苦笑する。

六月にサントリーホールで開いた発表会では、十八世紀の音楽家ヨハン・ネポムク・フンメルを取り上げた。フンメル役の学生が「私はロマン派の最先端を走っていた」などと語る合間に、別の学生がフンメルの曲を演奏し、その生涯と音楽の特徴を紹介した。企画した二年の高根里沙子さん（２１）は「フンメルはモーツァルトに師事し、巨匠と言われている。でも、古典派とロマン派の過渡期に生き、あまり注目されることがなかった」と、特集した理由を話す。

船山教授は「欧州では総合大学に音楽学の専攻がある。日本は特殊」という。入試に実技のある音大に音楽学専攻があることで、親しみにくい印象を与えていると考え、来年度からは実技がなくても入試を受けられる「グローバル教養コース」に改組する。「普通の学生にも学びに来てほしい」と期待している。（志村彰太）

On the other hand, a minority study "Music Research Course" of history and theory with emphasis on classical music, aiming at a career in systemic academic music.

With twenty two students and five professors, the minority elite have basic respect for autonomy for freely learning in their own ideas, in areas such as the music of Bach, libraries of music and collection of old instruments. It establishes an "Environment that can be linked directly to the real", said Nobuko Funayama, 73, Professor of Rector Agency, adding with a wry smile, "Someone did a study of the lock once."...

「辻井伸行」さんの夏休み

私が応援しているピアノの神の化身「辻井伸行」さんは、

今、オフィシャルサイトに寄れば、

７月２６日の台湾公演の後、

８月２３日の京都コンサートホールまで、

スケジュールが入っていません。

暫しの夏休みでしょうか。

もしかしたら、プライベートなコンサートが入っているかも知れませんが

それは、我々一般人には知るよしもありません。

それにしても「辻井伸行」さんのことですから

その後のコンサートに備えて猛練習をしていることでしょうね。

１０月３１日には、イギリス・マンチェスターで、

佐渡裕さん指揮で「ラフマニノフのピアノ協奏曲３番」が待ってますからね。

楽しみですねー。

I cheer for the incarnation of the Piano God, Mr. "Nobuyuki Tsujii".

Now, according to his official site,

After his Taiwan performances on July 26,

The next concert is in Kyoto on August 23,

There is nothing in between on the schedule.

Either he is taking a brief summer vacation.

Or perhaps he is giving some private concerts not privy to us ordinary people.

Anyway, Mr. "Nobuyuki Tsujii" is probably practicing strenuously for an upcoming concert.

On October 31, in Manchester, the United Kingdom, he will be playing "Piano Concerto No. 3 of Rachmaninoff" under the baton of Mr. Yutaka Sado.

It will be interesting. Till then.

「辻井伸行」さんの奇跡

私が応援しているピアノの神の化身「辻井伸行」さんは、

２００９年に「ヴァン・クライバーン国際ピアノコンクール」で優勝した時に、

「ヴァン・クライバーン」さん御自身から「奇跡のピアニスト」だと言われました。

それ以来、「辻井伸行」さんを紹介するキャチフレーズには、

しばしば、「奇跡のピアニスト」という言葉が使われるようになりました。

では、何故、ピアノの神の化身「辻井伸行」さんは「奇跡のピアニスト」なのでしょうか。

生まれながらの全盲だからでしょうか？

全盲の演奏家は日本にも世界にも何人もいらっしゃいます。

その方々が「奇跡の演奏家」と言われているかと言えば、そうでもありません。

それは、「辻井伸行」さん独特の奏法にあります。

テレビや動画サイトで「辻井伸行」さんの手元を見ていただけると分かりますが、

「辻井伸行」さんは鍵盤を叩きません。

打鍵とはピアノの鍵盤を叩くことで、

弱い音は弱く叩き、強い音は強く叩くものであり、

それがピアノの正しい奏法であると、

日本でも世界でも信じられているようです。

しかし、「辻井伸行」さんのコンサートに行かれた方は、

ご自分が弾くピアノの音や、

他の演奏家のピアノの音と、

「辻井伸行」さんのピアノの音が随分違うことに気が付かれると思います。

「辻井伸行」さんのピアノの音はなんと澄み切った音なのだろうと。

「辻井伸行」さんは生まれながらの全盲の為、

周囲から聞こえる雑音が恐怖でした。

特に大きく聞こえる雑音はとてつもない恐怖でした。

その結果幼少時から、

ご自身が発するピアノの音からも、

徹底的に雑音を排除したいと思い、

日々血の滲むような努力と創意工夫をしました。

その結果、ピアノの鍵盤は底まで叩くと、

ハンマーがピアノ線を叩く音と同じ強さの雑音が発生するので、

鍵盤が底を叩く手前までの距離で、

鍵盤を弱く遅く押して、ハンマーを弱く振れば弱い音が出て、

鍵盤を強く早く押して、ハンマーを強く振れば強い音が出るといことを、

６歳の時に「川上昌裕」先生に出会うまでに徹底的に鍛えました。

「川上昌裕」先生は、「辻井伸行」さんの、

鍵盤上を滑る様に動き、

伸ばした指で鍵盤を押す様に澄み切った音を出す奏法を、

「辻井伸行」さんの素晴らしい個性だと考え矯正しませんでした。

そして、運命の１２年間の特訓がによって、

「辻井伸行」さんの澄み切った素晴らしい音が確立されるのです。

「辻井伸行」さんのコンサートにいらっしゃった方はお分かりだと思いますが、

「辻井伸行」さんの演奏は実にダイナミックです。

しかし、全ての音が澄み切っています。

最弱音から最強音まで、

どんな超絶技巧の部分も、

全ての音を鍵盤の底を叩かずに、

滑る様に押し込んで音を出しているのです。

その様な演奏をするピアニストは、

世界に「辻井伸行」さん唯一人です。

「ヴァン・クライバーン」さんは、

その様な「辻井伸行」さんを「奇跡のピアニスト」と言ったのです。

辻井伸行さんのスイス紀行の番組をみた（TV放送の録画）感動した。ラフマニノフの家半日過ごした辻井さんの表情がなんともいえない。身体全部に嬉しさがでていた。バーゼル交響楽団と共演したラフマニノフは素晴らしく聞いていて熱くなった。辻井さんにとってこの旅は素晴らしい経験だったとおもう。 I was impressed with a Nobuyuki Tsujii documentary that I saw (recording of a TV broadcast). It is a program of his journey in Switzerland. Expression of Mr. Tsujii, who spent half a day at Rachmaninoff's house, is indescribable. The joy can be clearn seen on his being. [My chest] warmed watching him perform Rachmaninoff wonderfully with the Basel Symphony Orchestra. I think this trip was a great experience for this trip Tsujii. -tweet
