The ironic thing is, Nobu does play this piece. I heard it in 2013 in Japan, when he played it as an encore after performing Grieg's Concerto with Vladimir Ashkenazy and the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa. For some reason, he has rarely played it in public again, not when he played Grieg's Concerto with the BBC Phil in U.K. in 2013, nor last February when he performed Grieg's Concerto in Europe with the Strasboug Symphony Orchestra.

hey walk very, very slowly - to the stage. Each turtle step is a balancing act. The old man is Vladimir Ashkenazy, conductor, 80 years old and five-times Grammy award winner. The young man is Nobuyuki Tsujii, 28, pianist and blind from birth.

And then, when the DSO violins, under Ashkenazy, start playing Chopin's 2nd Piano Concerto, something is happening: Tsujii -- who just now seemed just barely able to get one foot in front of the other -- dances. He dances on his piano bench. He dances as if there were no tomorrow, not even when 2,000 people in the audience are looking at him. But he dances, while sitting, the upper body goes off like ... no comparison! He is dancing with himself and with music.

How I envy him! What goes on in the Philharmonie, is not felt in pop concert sites often. There is a lack of dance in many places during concerts. Although one should think that music makes people dance. Especially when these people love this music. But that is often not so ...
