Top Ten Best Fall Activities

Go on a Hayride
Hayrides are the perfect chill fall activity. Not feeling creative or don't have any energy? This is perfect for you. Get some friends together or family and find a beautiful fall trail area to sight see. My family personally does a hayride every other year or so, where we head down to my aunt's house and hop on her trailer for a ride. This can be made fun with cute fall clothes, or if you're more into the sensible side you bundle up and bring a blanket with you. Pro tip: bring two blankets, one for on you and one for you to sit on the hay with(it's itchy).
Pumpkin Carving/Painting
Pumpkin Carving is something you NEED to do every year. A halloween/fall tradition that cannot be passed up. If you are too lazy or don't have carving supplies, you can always find a cute design on pinterest to paint onto your pumpkin. Carving pumpkins is something that gets a little messy at times. Every year I would wonder if it would be the year my brothers have to actually get all the guts out of their pumpkin's without my dad's help. (I think he was wondering too, haha) A couple years ago they finally did it by themselves. A pro of doing all the hard work is getting to roast your pumpkin seeds afterwards and eat them as a treat while you watch a halloween movie.
Jump in a Pile of Leaves
This one is never really my favorite because it take a long time to get a big enough pile of leaves that you actually feel like is worth wrecking after all that hard work. It also makes me feel so dirty; from the broken leaves in my hair all the way down into my pants. However, this makes for some great pictures. Whether you're being an Instagram baddie and pumping out that fall content, or looking back on the cute photoshoots from when you were little with your siblings: the pictures are always worth it. When I was younger I specifically remember my cousin and I being THOSE cousins who would never let the todders help us because they would just wreck it while we were making it up. But, it always worked out in the end.
Go to a Haunted House/Trail
I personally have never been to a haunted HOUSE, but I have been to trails. I am a huge scaredy cat, so when it comes to horror movies I always opt out. But, once a year, I put on my big girl pants and go experience the horror IRL. I've been to the Field of Screams twice now and would probably rate it a 5/10 for scariness... right where I like it haha. However I have heard of some paranormal experiences that will knock your socks off. The Ohio Blood Prison(pictured above) is what's left of the Ohio State Reformatory. It's really an old prison that is one of the most paranormally active structures in the state. You get locked in and have to try to escape overnight from this haunted building. This is definitely not my cup of tea, but if it's yours: let us know if you go... if you make it out.
Go Apple Picking
Apple Picking is more than just the pictures you see on girl's Instagram posts. Apples are actually really good in my opinion and going to an apple tree farm will really give you some insight on just how many different kinds there are and how much work it must be to maintain them. Hidden Hills Orchard is just over in Marietta, and you can pick them yourself!
Corn Mazes are super fun... if you have a lot of time on your hands. Getting lost in them for hours is the whole point of them and it's always fun with the right people. They are an adventure worth your time and you could even make a new friend while you're all lost in there forever.
Pumpkin, Apple, Pecan, Sweet Potato... you name it. There are so many fall pies that are delicious and crowd pleasers. If you were having a fall get together with a hayride you could whip up a pie with love and feed your friends and family. This is a great way to involve your family in the baking process. After all... food brings everyone together.
Planning your halloween costume is one of the most exciting parts of fall if you ask me. I love Halloween... I may even go as far as to say it's my favorite holiday. There's so many halloween parties you have to go to and if you need ideas you can look at my article from last week: Best Costume Ideas for Halloween. Plan your own party and get creative! There are a lot of fun halloween themed foods, drinks and decor you can DIY. Go crazy with it.
Whether it's with friends or family, everyone needs a good game/movie night in their life. Pick a halloween movie and snuggle up with some hot apple cider and popcorn. Let every person there chime in with a game they want to play or movie they want to watch!
Take nearly every idea I've given in this article and put it all in one place... this is it! Festivals are so much fun! Especially when they are fall themed, you can do so much! So many stations and booths of fun, while also getting to support small business' from around your area. Popcorn, pie and delicious greasy food will be available at every turn you take. This is a great way to take up your Saturday afternoon and maybe you'll even get to listen to some live music!
