Teams Blue and Orange on the line before a play
9/22/21 - Lilith Roberts
Powder Puff turned out to be a huge success this year and so much fun! As we started out the night in the gym for volleyball, everyone was quickly informed that if we didn’t head outside for the girls football game, the rain would stop us from getting to play it at all. Teams Blue(Seniors and Sophomores) and Orange(Juniors and Freshmen) got on the line and down to business! With Team Blue on offense, Lily Roberts started them off strong with the first touchdown of the game. A beautifully assisted throw from QB, Josie Elliott, caused the fans to go wild! Then, Team Orange clapped back with a throw by Junior, Emma Hartline, caught and run into the touchdown zone by Freshman, Jassandra Lang. Every person was crucial in this game, especially with an offense squad and whole new defense squad coming in on the flip. Back again was Blue for another touchdown with a second beautiful throw by senior, Josie Elliott, and caught by best friend, Kiley Doak(senior) making the score 14-7(Team Blue.) Following suit, Team Orange came back with another 7 points. Junior, Kari Carney had a very long throw that slipped through Freshman Avery Wagner’s hands and was picked up at the last second by a freshman, Kendall Sury, who ran it to the end zone! The rain started to pour at about halftime, but that wasn’t stopping these girls and coaches! They stayed out in the rain for another 20 minutes, trying to finish up this game. Sophomore Laykyn Jones and Senior Mackenzie Suprano pulled out some self-written trick plays and threw off Team Orange for some yard gain. Handing off the ball and running it turned into the only option for both teams as the ball, and everyone’s hands, became slick from the rain. Freshman, Paige Lane had quite a few runs with Orange trying to take the lead. To make the score 21-14, Team Blue’s Mackenzie and Laykyn duo were at it again with another trick play and Mac ran it all the way to the touchdown zone for the win!
Homecoming Points
September 22, 2021- Gracie Stengel
Homecoming week 2021 has come to an end. As we look back on the events of the week we can remember all the fun themes such as destination day, jersey day, and the classic spirit day! We can also remember the hallways covered with themed decorations. Hidden around the school each day, Shrek was a “point earning item” as well. We concluded the week with a pep rally and parade. The senior homecoming court interviews were full of laughs. The floats featured lots of emerald castles, character costumes, and a handful of cute dogs dressed up for the occasion!
The final point count for the week resulted in a landslide victory for SENIORS with 516.5 points. Winning hallway, banner, and participation nearly everyday gave them a big boost. Juniors finished with a total of 255 points. This puts them in 3rd place for total points. The Sophomore class pulled through at the last minute to earn 261.25 points total. Putting them ahead of the Juniors. In last place overall, the Freshmen came in with a final count of 187.25 points.
While I was here I thought I would also do a follow-up on my dress predictions. I anticipated lots of glitter and sparkles and I was correct! Over half of the dresses at Waterford’s homecoming fit that description. Sequins and glitter flooded the dance floor. There were a handful of off-the-shoulder tops that I knew would make a comeback. Tight dresses were, of course, popular but lots of loose dresses could also be seen. Overall, there was no shortage of fabulous outfits.
