How To: Make a Spooky Basket

Everyone get excited!! Spooky season is right around the corner and who doesn’t love everything about it? Candy, costumes, and scary movies are by far the highlight of the holiday. People from ages 1-100 can dress up and enjoy trick-or-treat. A very popular trend during this season is spooky baskets. These baskets are usually gifted to your boo or your bestie. This is my guide to making the ultimate spooky basket!

Step 1: Pick your basket

This is the easy part. Any local dollar store store should have lots of options: From cute rustic baskets to the classic orange trick-or-treat pumpkin. You should be able to find whatever you are looking for, for a reasonable price. While a solid choice is a spooky "basket" there are some alternatives that might be even more fun. Boxes like the ones below offer a more personal and creative touch. These boxes are also good for long distance because of their ability to be shipped.

Step 2: Pick your items to put in it

This is where you can get creative. Think about what that your person likes and what that they could put to use. You can also take advantage of this opportunity to put something in that you can do together like cookie making supplies or a halloween ginger bread house. If you need some help with ideas here is a list of other items you could use...

1. Candy

2. Designed socks

3. Personalized gifts (key chains, bracelets, etc)

4. Their favorite snacks

5. Candles

6. Perfume or cologne

7. Facemasks or other skin care products

8. Gift Cards

9. T-Shirt or Sweatshirt

10. Stickers

The possibilities are endless and you can always be personal or casual with the items you choose. The key is to put thought into this gift.

Step 3: Put it all together!

Once you've purchased all the necessary supplies you can start the fun process of putting it all together. You can get creative with this too. If you wanted to go for a monochromatic look you could buy things all in the same color like the blue and orange examples below. There are also more pinterest worthy options. The sky is the limit with how you assemble your ultimate spooky basket.

Step 4: Give it to your boo! (or your bestie.. or your mom)

After all the other steps are complete just find the perfect opportunity and give them the best gift they have ever received.

Contest Announcement!!

Starting on October 13th the WAWICA will be holding a contest. Every 3 days we will post a prompt for example, "Jumping in a pile of leaves" and your job is to post a picture of you doing it with the hashtag #WAWICANEWS and tag us on instragram @WAWICANEWS. For each post you will be entered for a chance to win a spooky basket made by the WAWICA staff. The contest will conclude on October 31st. The winner will be announced November 1st.

Rules:

1. If a picture is posted that includes 2+ people, each person must post on their own account to be entered into the drawing.

2. 1 post= 1 entry

3. Instagram Stories are allowed as long as WAWICA is tagged so we can ensure that we view your post and count your entry.

4. You can only get 1 entry per prompt

5. You can post for any prompt at anytime throughout the contest.
