Wincham Community Primary School is incredibly proud of our 16-year partnership with Njoro DEB Primary School in Kenya. This enduring connection has enriched the lives of countless students and staff, fostering a deep understanding of global citizenship and cultural exchange. To celebrate this milestone, Mrs. Webb will be traveling to Njoro DEB next month, further strengthening the bonds between our two communities. A whole-school assembly on Monday, February 10th, will also mark this special occasion.
Njoro DEB is a vibrant primary school located in the heart of Kenya. Like Wincham, they are committed to providing a quality education for their students and fostering a strong sense of community. This visit will allow Mrs. Webb to experience their school firsthand, build relationships with teachers and students, and bring back valuable insights to share with our Wincham family.
Mrs. Webb is generously funding this trip herself, demonstrating her dedication to ensuring our partnership continues to thrive. This commitment allows Wincham to empower our pupils to become true "global citizens," equipped to engage with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds around the world.
As a gift to Njoro DEB, we will be donating a portable projector, funded by remaining corporate sponsorship funds from November 2023. This will be a valuable resource for their teachers, facilitating the sharing of information and enhancing the learning experience for their students.
The Kenya Project 2025 has several exciting components:
"What is Kindness?" Community Project: This long-term project, driven by pupil voice at both Njoro DEB and Wincham, will explore the meaning of kindness and how it connects to the Global Goals. Mrs. Webb will share the story of "Be Kind" with classes at Njoro DEB, engaging them in discussions about kindness and its impact on the world. Both schools will then develop community projects based on their unique needs and ideas, fostering collaboration and shared learning. This aligns with Random Acts of Kindness week (17th Feb) which Mrs Webb will be in Kenya for.
Curriculum Support: Mrs. Webb will capture videos of life in Kenya to support the Wincham curriculum, to further develop global elements within various topics. Videos will be used to gather questions from Wincham students before the visit, which Mrs. Webb will answer while in Kenya, producing further video footage linking the children in both schools.
British Council "United by Music" Project: Collaborating with Multiflex's dance program in Kenya, this project will connect children from both schools through dance. Videos of songs like "Smile Reaction" and the "17 Great Global Goals" song, which our children are learning in singing assembly, will be created, promoting collaboration in song and dance.
This visit promises to be an enriching experience for both Wincham and Njoro DEB. We look forward to sharing updates and insights from Mrs. Webb's journey and the exciting projects that will unfold as a result of this invaluable partnership.
Thank you to all those who have sent photos in already - we'd love to see some more!
I am setting up a new display board in school to celebrate success in sport and other physical activities such as dance. This will also be used to inspire and motivate others to participate. I would be really grateful if you could email me a picture of your child either taking part in their favourite sport / activity, or with a medal or trophy that they have won recently in a particular activity. I will give 10 Dojos to each child who has a photo sent in! Ideally I could do with them being in jpeg format so that I can use them easily in photo editing apps.
Photos that are submitted may also be posted on Facebook or Instagram to celebrate the sporting successes of our children. If you do not wish this to happen, please include this information in your email.
Please send your photos to hedgehogs@winchamcp.cheshire.sch.uk
Thank you - I look forward to seeing the photos!
Please note there will be no School Crossing Patrol on the afternoon of 5th February and all morning and afternoon of 12th February.
Public libraries are hosting their highly successful Fancy Dress Swaps again this year from 1st February in preparation for World Book Day. Using the scheme could not be easier: donate any unwanted costumes to the library or see what outfits they have and take them for no charge, it’s that simple.
Participating libraries are Barnton, Frodsham, Hope Farm, Lache, Little Sutton, Neston, Northwich, Sandiway, Weaverham, Wharton and Winsford.
And why not use the opportunity to borrow a book or join the library while you’re there? Joining a child is free and easy and does not require ID. There are no late charges for Under 13s.
Please see the leaflets here for free courses for parents on topical issues. In particular there is a free online session about Supporting Healthy Screen Use, something school staff are often asked about.

This exciting event is in it's 3rd year, getting bigger and better each year, raising over £8,500 so far! This year, Make A Wish is our chosen charity.
Critical illness brings a child’s joy to an abrupt end but Make-A-Wish grants life-changing wishes that have the power to turn tears into cheers, rescuing the magic of childhood even in their toughest times and providing a lifeline for families to spend precious time together. When it comes to their dreams, they deserve to wish for more than a life defined by their illness.
On Sunday 23rd February, around 100 tractors will set off from our local pub (The Antrobus Arms) and travel round a 3hour route around local villages and towns where locals come out in their thousands and line the streets.
For fun, friendship and activities that get you thinking as well as doing.

In a speech today, I set out the government’s vision for high and rising standards in every school, so that every child can achieve and thrive. Working in partnership with you, we are delivering our opportunity mission and putting the Prime Minister’s Plan for Change into action.
While visiting schools of different shapes and sizes, I see your dedication to driving high and rising standards in the pursuit of the best life chances for all children, breaking down the barriers to opportunity.
Your passion and expertise are one of our system’s main strengths. And I know you all share my sense responsibility to the children of this country. When it comes to their education, we all have a duty to drive improvement wherever we can.
The opportunity to succeed must be the right of every child. That’s my vision for education – and I know it’s a vision that each of you share. And to achieve that, the way we work with you to unlock improvement and spread best practice needs to evolve.
I am raising the bar of expectation, challenging all schools to tackle poor performance and achieve better outcomes for all our children.
This comes with a change in the spirit of accountability and intervention. It will be a relationship of common aims and shared responsibility – one of challenge but with support. We will take an approach that recognises, above all, that we all want to see children achieving and thriving.
For those schools that have been struggling for some time, we need to act with even greater urgency, as our children can’t afford to wait.
Through new regional improvement teams, known as RISE teams, we will work alongside schools to drive the improvements needed to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has the education they deserve.
When I first became Secretary of State, I said I wanted to draw on your wisdom – and that your voices would always be heard.
So as we move into this new era of accountability, I am asking leaders, teachers and parents in your communities to respond to two key consultations that will shape the next chapter of accountability and improvement in our schools:
I would like to hear your views on our proposals for school accountability reform.
And Ofsted are consulting on their plans for report cards and inspection structures.
The more responses we receive, the better we can shape these plans and shine a light on everything a school does to support its pupils.
If you are considering applying for a place at Wincham Community Primary School, we encourage you to contact our school office as soon as possible.
Our friendly staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have and provide you with further information about our school. We are proud to be a good school as recognised by Ofsted.
We offer a nurturing and stimulating learning environment where every child is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life, and we are committed to providing our students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.
We have tours of the school each week, so you can see 'real life' in our happy, vibrant school.
Our Butterflies Nursery is a happy and exciting place for your child to start their educational journey.
We can support you with a smooth transition from being at home to learning through play in a safe environment with high quality resources to facilitate play, staffed by qualified teachers who care about the children and will support them to achieve their very best.
We offer a flexible package using the government's 15 (or 30 if eligible) hours of free childcare for 3 & 4 year olds, with additional hours if required.
Please read our prospectus, or contact a member of the team by ringing 01606 288060 or emailing nursery@winchamcp.cheshire.sch.uk or to express interest in a place, please complete the online form.
The school lottery is a really easy way to support the School and be in with a chance to win money or prizes. Please consider joining our school lottery if you’ve not already done so to help raise funds for school.

It's always nice to have some lovely feedback! Parents often mention in passing how happy their children are, how much they have enjoyed their learning, or how they are grateful for a particular member of staff who has gone above and beyond.
Scan the QR code or click the button below for an opportunity to thank a member of Team Wincham for their hard work and efforts to provide the best opportunities and care.
There are a range of services we can signpost to, including financial support. There is a wide range of information available on the school website. This includes the Foodbank, free uniform, wider support with rising cost of living, and a range of other things.
