This week in class and assemblies we have been talking about the school’s mission statement, and how it links to our school rules. We have talked about how if we are to learn, grow and dream together, then we need to do our best, respect and support others as well as care for the equipment we have and the school environment, so that everyone has the best possible chances.
As part of the school’s Behaviour Policy, the children have explored the 3 key school rules at an age appropriate level:
We (school staff and children) choose to;
Respect ourselves
Be proud of who we are
Be proud of our achievements
Stay safe at school and online
Aspire to be the best that we can be
Use our manners
Respect others and their learning
Be honest
Show kindness
Listen at the right times
Listen to others’ opinions
Move around school safely
Respect our property and our environment
Tools for learning
Classroom equipment
Sports equipment
Playtime equipment
Toilet environments
Wider school environment
All of the classes have been working on this, to understand what it looks like at their own level.
Absence
A single consistent national threshold for when a penalty notice must be considered of 10 sessions (usually equivalent to 5 school days) of unauthorised absence within a rolling 10 school week period. The three-year period begins from the date of the first penalty notice issued on or after 19 August 2024.
Unauthorised absence sessions can be consecutive (e.g. 10 sessions of holiday in one week) or sporadic (e.g. 6 sessions of unauthorised absence in 1 week and 1 per week for the next 4 weeks). The 10 school week period may span different terms or school years.
After a brief technical hiccup, we are pleased to relaunch our social media presence on Facebook and Instagram.
Please follow us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/winchamprimaryschool/

We will use Facebook and Instagram to share good news, updates about what has been going on in school, and forthcoming events. Please be aware that not everything will be on Facebook or Instagram, and the best place to find out what's going on each week is this newsletter.
All posts will follow our Social Media Policy, as well as the permissions you granted about publishing images online when your child joined the school. Please contact the school if you have any questions.
The budget is already over stretched - we need your support to provide vital teaching and learning equipment and resources to use with the children next year. This includes:
Big blocks set for Reception children (Approximately £3400)
Bespoke speech and language therapy scheme and intervention for Early Years and Key Stage 1 children (Approximately £900)
3 new touchscreens (Approximately £1300 each)
In addition, we want to continue our Forest School provision for all children, but we can only afford to do this through charitable donations. With your support, all children will receive 6 weeks of Forest Schools work next academic year, supporting emotional wellbeing and mental health. (Approximately £4500)
The total amount we need to raise is £12,700.
Our Wincham Family & Friends volunteers are incredibly hard working, and are very excited to bring the fair to you on the 14th. But...
Please spare an hour in the morning to come down and help set up for the event. It'll be a way to get involved in the wider life of the school, meet new people, and to contribute to a great day.
If you, or someone you know, is looking for a Reception place for September 2025, please get in touch.
We have tours of the school each week, so you can see 'real life' in our happy, vibrant school.
We have hours available as a Midday Assistant for someone who would enjoy working with children each day. Please ask in the office for more details.
