What a truly heartwarming and inspiring event we had recently with our Key Stage 1 children! Our Hall was filled with proud smiles (from both children and staff!) as our very youngest pupils took to the stage for their very own Poetry Recital.
It takes such bravery and confidence to stand up in front of an audience, and our Key Stage 1 superstars absolutely shone! We were treated to a delightful programme of poems, with some children confidently reciting much-loved existing poems, their voices clear and expressive. And what's more, we were incredibly proud to hear some of our budding young poets share their very own original creations! To write a poem and then stand up and share it is a fantastic achievement, and it truly highlighted the incredible creativity blossoming in our classrooms.
This recital was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the power of words and the joy of sharing stories and ideas. It also underscored the vital importance of oracy – that's the ability to express oneself clearly and confidently through spoken language. Being able to articulate thoughts, feelings, and ideas is a crucial skill for all children, not just for school but for life beyond. Events like this help our children to develop their speaking and listening skills, build their self-esteem, and find their unique voice.
The support and encouragement from their classmates and our wonderful staff was truly palpable, creating a wonderfully supportive and nurturing atmosphere. Every child who participated demonstrated remarkable courage and enthusiasm.
We are so incredibly proud of all our Key Stage 1 poets and performers. They truly captured the spirit of creativity and confidence that we foster at Wincham Community Primary School. It was a clear reminder that even our smallest voices can make the biggest impact!
We were absolutely delighted to welcome the fantastic children's author, Steve Bailey, to our school this week! The children had such a wonderful time listening to him talk about his books and the magic of writing. It was so lovely to see their faces light up as he shared his stories and answered their questions about becoming an author.
At Wincham Community Primary School, we are passionate about fostering a love for reading and writing in all our pupils. Experiences like Steve's visit are invaluable in showing our children that writing can be a super fun and creative journey, and that their own ideas can become wonderful stories! We believe these inspiring moments contribute so much to their personal development, helping them grow into confident and imaginative individuals.
This visit is just one of the many ways we strive to provide a rich and engaging curriculum for all our learners. We believe in helping every child to learn, grow, and dream big here at Wincham!
Do keep an eye on our school website for more exciting news and updates from around the school, and don't forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for daily snapshots of school life!
What a truly delightful day we had at Wincham Community Primary School today! The classrooms were awash with colourful pyjamas, fluffy slippers, and even some very imaginative dressing gowns, all in celebration of our special 'Pyjamarama' day!
This lovely event, organised by the BookTrust, is all about celebrating the joy of reading and sharing stories. There's something truly magical about snuggling up with a good book, and we wanted to bring that cosy, comforting feeling right into school. Our children embraced the theme with such enthusiasm, arriving ready for a day of reading adventures.
Throughout the day, every classroom was buzzing with literacy activities. We had extra story times, shared favourite books with our friends, and explored new authors and genres. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to see reading as a fun and relaxing activity, not just something we do in lessons.
The atmosphere was just lovely – full of laughter, shared stories, and a real sense of togetherness. It's so important to us that our children develop a lifelong love of reading, and days like Pyjamarama truly help to foster that passion.
Thank you to all our wonderful families for supporting this event and helping your children come to school in their fantastic pyjamas. Your involvement makes such a difference to the children's experience and helps us to create such a vibrant and engaging learning environment.
We believe that fostering a love of reading is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children, and events like Pyjamarama are just one of the many ways we nurture this at Wincham. If you'd like to find out more about how we make learning exciting and engaging, please do explore our school website or even get in touch to arrange a visit. We'd be absolutely delighted to show you around!

We have some truly wonderful news to share about the incredible artistic talents of our children! Our brilliant pupils in Years 2 and 4 have been working together and have created two magnificent pieces of artwork on large canvases.
We are so proud to announce that these fantastic artworks are part of the Northwich Education Partnership art display! You can see their masterpieces right there in Baron's Quay for the next two weeks.
This is a fantastic opportunity for our children to showcase their creativity to the wider community, and we are absolutely bursting with pride at their hard work and artistic flair.
Please do make some time to pop down to Baron's Quay over the next fortnight and see their amazing creations for yourselves. It's a wonderful way to celebrate the talent we have here at Wincham Community Primary School!
We were absolutely thrilled to welcome 77 of our wonderful parents and guardians into school recently for our very popular 'Stay & Do' writing sessions!
It was a truly special experience to see parents and children working side-by-side, sharing ideas, and enjoying the process of creative writing together. Our 'Stay & Do' events are designed to give you a fantastic insight into what learning looks like in the classroom, and these particular sessions highlighted just how much fun and how engaging writing can be for our pupils.
The children loved having their grown-ups join in, sharing their stories and ideas, and it was lovely to see so many proud faces as children shared their completed work. These sessions are a super example of how, by working together, we can really support our children's learning journey and foster a love for literacy.
A huge thank you to everyone who was able to attend. Your participation truly makes a difference to our school community and your children's learning. Do keep an eye on future newsletters and our school website for details of our next 'Stay & Do' opportunity!

With its limitless opportunities for building, exploring and collaborating, Minecraft remains a global gaming phenomenon. Its broad appeal lies in how open-ended it is – but this also means it’s not without risk. From chatting with strangers on public servers to the grief of having a beloved creation destroyed, young players can face challenges if left unsupervised. Minecraft can also become a time sink for enthusiastic players, with late nights spent crafting and constructing, potentially impacting school and social lives.
We’ve created this free guide to help parents and educators understand how to keep young gamers safe – from choosing age-appropriate game modes to setting boundaries around screen time and spending.
At Wincham Community Primary School, we are committed to supporting the well-being and development of all our pupils and their families.
