Did you know the word 'inspiration' comes from the word spirit, to do with the Holy Spirit? Christians believed that those who had a flash of inspiration had the Holy Spirit come to them with new thoughts or ideas - inspiration. In assembly we have talked about how people can be inspiring, and what makes an inspiring person. We looked at the example fo Jesus Christ, Mo Farah, Christopher Columbus, Rosa Parks and others, and how their determination to succeed was inspiring.

We are always very proud of the children in school, even more so when they show themselves to be such model citizens. This week, some of the Year 5 & 6 children took part in an inter school competition organised by Vale Royal School Sports Partnership, Wincham children were awarded a Special Award for Demonstrating the Spirit of the Games - a real testament to the teamwork, positivity and support they showed for each other. Well done everyone!
Thank you to all of the parents who supported our Stay & Do event this week. Lot of parents worked alongside their children, learning how we teach reading so they can apply the same strategies at home - what a great way to support your children!
Clearly, the children really enjoyed showing the children how clever they are!

It's easy to pick a book because we like the look of it without finding out about the story first! To help out young readers explore new authors and genres, some of our library books are wrapped to hide the cover, encouraging children to explore the story without preconceptions.
At Wincham Community Primary School, we believe that fostering a love of reading is fundamental to our students' success. Reading is not just a skill; it's a gateway to endless possibilities, sparking imagination, expanding knowledge, and nurturing empathy. We strive to instil a lifelong love of reading in our students, recognizing its importance for academic achievement, personal growth, and overall well-being.
Reading is not only essential for academic success but also for mental health and emotional well-being. Research has shown that reading can reduce stress, improve cognitive function, and promote empathy and understanding. By encouraging our students to develop a love of reading, we are equipping them with valuable skills and habits that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Keeping children safe is our primary concern, boith in school, and supporting you with this out of school. Thank you to those people who have helped by finding alternatives to using the car park. Please note that parents who park on the road just down from the bus stop obstruct both the view and the oncoming traffic - there are a range of places in the village where you can park and walk a short distance into school.
To address some of our travel issues, our Junior Safety Officers spent time with the PCSOs this week. Here is their report:
"Yesterday, 23rd January, we went on a little hunt around Wincham to see if we could find any cars parked where they shouldn't be, such as cars parked too close to a junction, on a yellow zigzag or on a double yellow line. We managed to find and tell two people that they parked too close to the junction and they should be at least 10 meters away. When we got got back to school we said thank you to PCSO Wiggins. We can't wait until next month when we are going to track people's speed using a speed gun. We will keep you updated".
Please find attached important information regarding the potential dangers associated with the use of TikTok, particularly for children and young people. While TikTok can be a source of entertainment and creativity, it's crucial to be aware of the potential risks involved, such as exposure to inappropriate content, cyberbullying, and privacy concerns. We encourage you to discuss these dangers with your children, emphasizing the importance of responsible online behaviour and critical thinking. We also recommend familiarising yourselves with the app's safety features and privacy settings to help safeguard your children's online experience.
The information can also be accessed as a 6 minute podcast.

It's always nice to have some lovely feedback! Parents often mention in passing how happy their children are, how much they have enjoyed their learning, or how they are grateful for a particular member of staff who has gone above and beyond.
Scan the QR code or click the button below for an opportunity to thank a member of Team Wincham for their hard work and efforts to provide the best opportunities and care.
There are a range of services we can signpost to, including financial support. There is a wide range of information available on the school website. This includes the Foodbank, free uniform, wider support with rising cost of living, and a range of other things.
If you are struggling financially, please don't hesitate to speak to Mr Boot or Ms Boag-Munroe.
