We are absolutely bursting with pride to share some incredibly exciting news! Wincham Community Primary School has been awarded a prestigious Certificate of Excellence for 'School or College Partnership of the Year' at the National Teaching Awards! This national recognition highlights the profound impact and long-standing success of our partnership with Njoro DEB Primary School in Kenya.
Our collaboration with Njoro began all the way back in 2009, and over the years, it has gone from strength to strength, fostering deep connections and invaluable learning experiences for our pupils. Through reciprocal visits, our dedicated teachers have travelled to Kenya, immersing themselves in their culture and education system, bringing back insights that enrich our classrooms here in Wincham.
in 2023 we were delighted to host Njoro DEB headteacher, Mr JM. His visit provided our pupils with direct, enriching experiences, allowing them to hear first-hand stories and deepen their understanding of life in Kenya.
As Ofsted noted in our recent inspection, our pupils are "exceptionally well prepared to contribute to their community and to wider society." This partnership, significantly enhanced by these personal connections, is a shining example of that commitment in action. It truly demonstrates our school's dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals who understand their place in the world and have a strong sense of empathy and global awareness.
This remarkable achievement is a testament to the collective efforts of our wonderful pupils, dedicated staff, supportive parents and governors at Wincham, as well as our friends at Njoro DEB, and the Multiflex School Sports team, who have been instrumental in establishing and maintaining the partnership. The links between the 2 schools would not have been possible without the commitment and drive of Mrs Webb, who has worked tirelessly to sustain the partnership and embed it in school life.
We are incredibly proud of this national recognition and look forward to continuing our valuable work with Njoro DEB Primary School for many years to come. To learn more about this inspiring partnership and to see how Wincham children develop a rich understanding of diverse cultures, please visit the Kenyan Partnership section on our school website.
Thank you for your continued support in making Wincham Community Primary School such a special place where we truly "learn, grow, and dream together."
Next week is our Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) week. We have a range of exciting and interesting opportunities for the children to enjoy and learn from, and we will finish the week with an open afternoon for all parents from 2.30 onwards on Friday. You will be able to spend time in the classrooms with the children and see the work they have done. When the event is over, children with parents can leave when they are ready. Children who normally walk home on their own will not be allowed to leave until the usual end of the school day.
This end of the school year is always busy and Friday is no exception! Unfortunately, some of our children will not be able to take part in the STEM afternoon as they will be taking part in a Tag Rugby tournament. Forest Schools will be ongoing for Dragonflies class as usual. Parents of Dragonflies children will be able to join in with the Forest School activity.
