This week we have been actively taking notice of the changing of the seasons and being grateful for the things we see, like beautiful skies, rainbows and changing colours. The children in Foxes & Owls classes particularly enjoyed their Autumn walk on Monday!
If you, or someone you know, is looking for a Reception place for September 2025, please get in touch.
We have tours of the school each week, so you can see 'real life' in our happy, vibrant school.
In Year 5, we've been having a wonderful time exploring cube numbers using those fantastic interlocking cubes! It's been a real hands-on experience as we've moved from building our own cubes (concrete), to drawing them (pictorial), and finally, writing the numbers with all their exciting factors (abstract). It's amazing to see how these little cubes can bring maths to life and make learning so much fun!
These geographers were exploring the school grounds this week, identifying key features from an aerial photo!
Children in Year 2 have been doing science experiments using their class book, The Tear Thief as a theme. The Tear Thief sent a letter to the class asking them to decide which fabric would make the best curtains (using the language transparent, opaque and translucent).
Across the school, we talk about our Science Superheroes who help us with different aspects of scientific enquiry. Children used Fair Test Flo's ideas to help them conduct the experiment using fair testing.
Sadly only 1 parent was able to attend the coffee morning today. The presentation that was shared is below, and available on the school website. There are a wide range of resources for parents to support mental health at home in the presentation - please take some time out of your busy days to have a look!
I would also like to explore the reasons for the low turnout. We want to engage with parents by sharing information about the curriculum, and also give you a chance to talk more informally with school staff, and clearly, it didn't seem to work this time!
These events take a lot of time to plan, so I'd be grateful for responses to the form so that we can meet parents' needs.
Thank you to everyone who attended the Phonics workshop with Mr Bounds this week. It was a very interesting session, with lots of practical advice and support.
The presentation used in the session will be hosted on the school website on the Phonics page and the Rabbits and Grasshoppers class pages as well.
This week saw the first full Governing Board meeting of the term. Governors meet half termly and receive updates from a range of school staff on the School Improvement Plan and next steps, safeguarding matters, statutory compliance, finance. Governors also shared their own reports from visits to the school to liaise with subject leaders about the developments in different curriculum areas.
More information about the governors, the roles they play in school and their impact can be found here.
Thank you to those parents who park in the local area and walk the final way to school instead of using the car parks - you are doing a great job in teaching your children about the environment, the value of exercise and the benefits of a good walk!
Please can we ask that when you park on the neighbouring streets, you don't block the pavements. Many thanks.
The latest Parent Carer Forum newsletter can be found online here.
We are delighted to share our new interactive Early Years Communication Pathway! This was created in collaboration with our Starting Well Team, Early Years Consultants, and our Children and Young People’s (CYP) Speech and Language Teams.
This pathway will help you to support parents and carers to ensure they receive the right support at the right time in the right place.
It includes lots of useful resources, social media accounts, and screening tools suitable for all children, young people, and their families.
The pathway also helps decide when children may need extra support or a referral to the Speech and Language Therapy Service.
