We all want our children to grow into happy, well-rounded individuals. At Wincham Community Primary School, we believe that good mental health is absolutely vital to that goal.
We understand that children can experience a range of emotions and challenges as they grow and learn. That's why we take a proactive approach to supporting their mental wellbeing, weaving it into the fabric of our everyday school life. Mental health & wellbeing is a vital part of the children's learning. We discretely teach strategies to support positive mental health through our Heartsmart curriculum. Information about this can be found online here.
We recently celebrated World Mental Health Day by wearing yellow. It was wonderful to see so many of our pupils taking part and showing their support for this important cause.
It was fantastic to see so many of our pupils – and parents! – shining brightly in yellow last week to mark World Mental Health Day. The sea of yellow across the playground was a wonderful demonstration of our school community's commitment to supporting mental wellbeing.
Thank you to everyone who joined in and helped to raise awareness for this important cause. Your participation not only brightened our day but also sent a powerful message to our children: that we care about their mental health and we're all in this together.
Events like this provide a valuable opportunity to open up conversations about mental health and remind everyone that it's okay to talk about their feelings. We are proud to foster a school environment where children feel safe, supported, and empowered to look after their mental wellbeing.
Thank you so much to everyone who attended the Harvest festival this morning. We were all very proud of the children for the high quality of their singing and poetry recital. It was really pleasing to see such a great turnout of people supporting a community event such as this. Having an audience is really important for the children; as well as the spiritual element of giving thanks for the Harvest with you, it allows them to be pushed out of their comfort zones as they perform in public.
Don't forget that we are a Foodbank referral agency. If you are struggling financially we can refer you to the Foodbank for support for you and your family. This is a confidential service, please ask Mr Boot or Miss Boag Munroe for more information.

We're delighted to invite you to a Phonics Workshop designed to support your child's early reading skills. This session will provide a deeper understanding of phonics instruction at Wincham, particularly how we prepare children for the DfE Phonics Screening Check. We'll share practical tips and activities you can use at home to boost your child's confidence and progress. We look forward to seeing you there!
The session will take place in school from 9am-10am and again from 4.30-5.30, for those who can't attend in the day.
We are really excited for our Halloween Disco next Friday!
On Tuesday the 15th of October, the children will have a non uniform day, in return for donations for the tombola at the disco. Please bring in donations on the day.
Please note this is non uniform, not fancy dress. Let's save the Halloween costumes for Friday night!
On Friday the 18th of October, we will host a coffee morning for parents in the hall, straight after the children go into school.
This will be an informal event for those who can stay and have a brew and chat. We aim to hold these regularly, and at each event some school staff will be present to talk to parents, find out how things are going and take feedback.
Each coffee morning will have a presentation/ information session of some sort, sharing what and how we do things in school. On the 18th, school staff will present information about emotional health & wellbeing; how to maintain positive wellbeing, some of the things we do to support mental health, and for parents about maintaining your own wellbeing.
We look forward to seeing you there.
