You have grown into confident, capable, and kind young people, and we have no doubt you will achieve great things. Our Vibrant Community and Exciting Plans Ahead

Wincham truly is a 'community' school in every sense. We pride ourselves on knowing every child and family, and creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels safe, cared for, and supported. The involvement of our Wincham Family & Friends PTA has been incredible this year, with events like the recent film night bringing us all together and raising vital funds for school resources. We love celebrating our pupils' achievements, whether it's academic successes or their incredible sporting efforts – keep an eye on our new sports display board and our social media for these fantastic highlights!

Looking ahead, we are always striving to make Wincham even better. We'll be focusing on refining our curriculum in a few specific areas to ensure every child gets the most out of every subject, and continuously improving how we monitor all our learning programmes. Our aim, as always, is to ensure your children are happy, capable, and responsible young people who love learning and are ready for whatever the future holds.

Year 6 Set Sail with "Pirates of the Curry Bean"!

What an absolutely spectacular performance our Year 6 children gave with their production of "Pirates of the Curry Bean"! They truly outdid themselves, transporting us all to a world of swashbuckling adventure, catchy songs, and hilarious antics. The dedication, hard work, and talent they poured into every rehearsal shone brightly on stage. From their confident acting and wonderful singing to their fantastic comedic timing, each and every child was a star. It was a joy to see them embrace their roles and work together as such a cohesive team. We are incredibly proud of them for delivering such a memorable show that truly captivated their audience. Well done, Year 6 – what a fantastic way to celebrate your time at Wincham!

A Tremendous Triumph: Our Summer Fair Success!

What an absolutely glorious day we had at our Summer Fair last Saturday! The sun shone brightly, and it was truly heartwarming to see so many of our Wincham families, friends, and members of the wider community come together to enjoy the fun.

The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement, laughter, and that wonderful sense of community that makes Wincham so special. From the lively games and creative stalls organised by our fantastic Wincham Family & Friends (WFF) PTA, to the delicious refreshments and opportunities for everyone to connect, it was a resounding success!

A huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to every single person who contributed to making the fair such a memorable event. To the dedicated WFF members who poured countless hours into planning and organising, to all the parents and staff who volunteered their time, set up stalls, ran activities, and cleaned up afterwards – your generosity and effort are truly appreciated. We couldn't have done it without you! And of course, a massive thank you to everyone who came along, participated, and helped us raise such a fantastic amount of money. The funds raised will go directly towards enriching the experiences of all our pupils, providing valuable resources and opportunities that truly make a difference to their learning and enjoyment at school.

It was a perfect example of our Wincham community in action, learning, growing, and having fun together!

Have you and your child been vaccinated?

Measles is on the increase in Cheshire & Merseyside – make sure your child has received two doses of the Measles, Mumps, & Rubella (MMR) vaccine for full protection.

Measles is an infection that spreads very easily. It can cause serious illness in some people and in rare cases, spread to the lungs or the brain. Babies and pregnant women are at increased risk of harm. Having two doses of the MMR vaccine is the best way to prevent measles.

Measles usually starts with a runny nose, sneezing, coughing, and a high temperature. It may cause red, sore eyes. The measles rash will appear a few days later, starting on the face and behind the ears before spreading to the rest of the body. There may be small white spots inside the cheeks.

If you suspect you or your child has measles, phone your GP or NHS 111 for advice. Do not go directly to the GP surgery as measles is highly infectious. Do not send children to school or childcare if you think they have measles.

People of any age can become infected with measles if they have not been fully vaccinated. Two doses of the MMR vaccine provides lifelong protection against measles, mumps, and rubella. The MMR vaccine is safe and effective. The first dose is given at the age of 12 months and the 2nd dose is given at 3 years and 4 months old for those born before 1 July 2024, or at 18 months for those born on or after 1 July 2024.

Ask at your GP surgery if you’re not sure whether you or your child has been fully vaccinated. You can also check your child’s Red Book. Your GP surgery can administer the MMR vaccine to you and your child for free on the NHS. It is never too late to catch up. You can be vaccinated at ANY age. If you have any questions about the MMR vaccine, a nurse will be happy to answer them at your appointment. Lost Property

We currently have mountains of lost property as children take their jumpers off in the heat and leave them lying around! All of the lost property is on the table in the Courtyard Room, please help yourself to a rummage!

Summer Activities at Cheshire Museums

Grosvenor Museum, Chester, CH1 2DD, will be running family activities between 10:30 – 12:30pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Activities and entry to the museum are free with donations welcome!

Northwich Explorer Club! At Weaver Hall Museum and Lion Salt Works. Our Northwich Museums will be running special 1-hour STEM based craft sessions between (11-12pm & 12-1pm) with a dedicated member of the learning team every Wednesday at Weaver Hall and Friday at Lion Salt Works. Cheshire West Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme

The HAF Programme is funded nationally by the Department for Education and supports local organisations to provide free holiday provision to school aged children and young people from reception to year 11 (inclusive) on benefits-related free school meals (FSM), helping them to access healthy food and take part in fun activities and a chance to meet new friends in a safe and fun environment.

There are also paid places available with some providers for those who do not meet this criteria, so they too can join in.

What is happening?

We have 79 clubs run by 47 organisations which will help those who attend to access healthy food and take part in fun activities over the summer school holidays and, more importantly, for them to have fun and make memories in a safe environment

Edsential Community Interest Company is working with several organisations, including schools, community, voluntary and faith sector organisations to organise 65 holiday activity clubs throughout the borough.

Each eligible child will be provided with a good quality nutritious meal, plus they can look forward to a wide range of activities designed to be engaging and fun. From sports such as football, dodgeball, rounders, football. Yoga, den building, baking, and cooking classes, growing clubs, forest school activities, building bug hotels and bird feeders, music related activities, performing arts, bingo, bowling, and special day trips.

Brio Leisure is offering a variety of engaging activities for young people over the summer holidays. Sports camps will be held at Neston Recreation Centre, catering for 4 to 12-year-olds. Additionally, fun and floats and craft SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) sessions are available for young people aged 5 to 18 years at Ellesmere Port Sports Village, Winsford Lifestyle Centre, and Northwich Memorial Court. Young People Service will deliver a Future Focus Summer Scheme. The programme is aimed at young people aged 16-19 who are currently not in employment, education or training, or leaving Year 11 this summer and have not yet secured a post 16 placement for September. The range of activities will include confidence building and employment skills, team building and emotional and financial wellbeing.

Youth Zone for 11–16-year-olds (up to 25 for our SEND children and young people) will provide a summer programme include activity day trips, indoor and outdoor sports sessions, team building skills, Breakout rooms, Chester Zoo, Chill Fest, Create Fest, Party Fest, summer safety sessions and healthy balanced meals. Provision is available for children with special education needs and disabilities (SEND) who are eligible on benefits related free school meals with some providers able to offer paid for places for those not eligible based on the guidance, to also can attend SEND-specific HAF programmes.

This is in addition to other programmes being offered by providers more widely. The SEND specific offer will include sessions for children and young people such as multisport, fun floats and swimming offered by our partners Brio CIC, as well as provisions offering the chance to attend sports, arts and crafts These are just some of the offers our providers will be delivering. Kidsbank School Uniform Support

KidsBank support families experiencing hardship with the provision of new and pre-loved, non-branded school uniform.

Uniform can be provided for children aged 4-11 who live and attend a primary school in Cheshire West & Chester or Flintshire.

What is Early Help?

Early Help is a voluntary service designed to provide support to children, young people, and their families at the earliest opportunity. It aims to address challenges before they escalate, helping families to build resilience and thrive.

Our dedicated Early Help Navigator is here to provide guidance and support, connecting families with the right services and resources. They can offer assistance with a wide range of issues, including:

The Navigator can work with families to identify their strengths and needs, develop a support plan, and connect them with appropriate services. They can also provide ongoing support and advocacy, ensuring families receive the help they need.

We offer a flexible package using the government's 15 (or 30 if eligible) hours of free childcare for 3 & 4 year olds, with additional hours if required.
