This year’s World Book Day was a truly memorable occasion! From whimsical wizards to daring detectives, our students showcased their creativity and love for books with an array of amazing costumes. It was wonderful to see the school buzzing with excitement as stories came to life.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all parents and carers for their support in making this day such a resounding success. By encouraging a love of reading, we are giving our children the gift of imagination and knowledge. Thank you!
What a fantastic time we had at our recent Pancake Flip event, sponsored by our wonderful PTA, Wincham Family & Friends! The school was buzzing with excitement as pupils and even a few brave staff took part in the challenge.
We saw some truly impressive flipping skills, and a few hilarious mishaps too! A special shout-out to our staff members who joined in the fun, showing off their pancake prowess (or lack thereof!). It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and hear so much laughter.
But the Pancake Flip was about more than just fun and games. It played a vital role in raising funds that will directly benefit our children and enhance their learning experiences. Our PTA, Wincham Family & Friends, are an incredible asset to our school. They dedicate their time and energy to organising events like this, which not only bring our school community together but also provide essential resources.
The funds raised will go towards further enhancing out outdoor provision. This makes a real difference to the lives of our pupils, and we are immensely grateful for their continued support.
We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and contributed to the success of the Pancake Flip. Your support makes Wincham Community Primary School such a special place.
Keep an eye out for more exciting events organised by Wincham Family & Friends in the coming months. Your involvement is always welcome, and every contribution, big or small, makes a significant impact.
Together, we learn, grow, and dream, and with the support of our amazing PTA, we can make those dreams even bigger!
Children in Hedgehogs class got a real treat this week when Ringmaster Babington performed their very own circus show for them! The children are about to begin a new English project based on the wonderful book Leon & The Place Between. Mr Babington spent the day dressed as a ringmaster, and performed his 'amazing' close up magic tricks to give the children a real flavour of the circus, hooking them into their learning.
We were absolutely delighted to welcome over 80 parents to our Relationships and Health Education (RHE) Stay & Do session this week! It was wonderful to see so many of you engaging with the Heartsmart materials and experiencing firsthand how we deliver this important part of the curriculum.
Your presence and participation were invaluable to us. The opportunity to share our approach and answer your questions was a crucial step in our ongoing consultation process for the RHE curriculum. We believe that open communication and collaboration with parents are essential to ensuring our children receive the best possible education in this area.
The feedback we received during the session was overwhelmingly positive, and we are grateful for your support. Your insights and perspectives are vital as we refine and develop our RHE provision.
If you were unable to attend the session or if you have any further questions or would like to discuss any aspect of our RHE curriculum, please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher or contact the school office to arrange a meeting with a member of the leadership team. We are always happy to discuss our approach and address any concerns you may have.
Thank you once again for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education.
Thursday the 20th of March will be a non uniform day in exchange for Easter hamper donations. Children doing PE on this day can come into school in suitable clothes for sport.
There are still places available for individual piano lessons in school. For more information, visit https://www.musicsquad.co.uk/ or see the flier.
At Wincham CP School we apply a robust day to day process to track and follow up on absence and poor punctuality. We ensure registers are completed accurately and on time, twice per day, in accordance with the timings set out below. This indicates which pupils are absent from or are late for school.
Our gates open at 8.30 and a member of staff is on the playground at 8.45. Doors are opened to school at 8.50.
We expect all pupils to be in their classroom by 8.55 ready for registration. If your child is in class at this time, they will be marked as present.
Registers close at 9.15. If your child arrives at school after 8.55am but before 9.15am, they will need to enter the school by the main entrance and the parent will need to sign them in. They will be marked as late and will receive the L code.
If your child arrives at school after the registers have closed at 9.15 they will be marked as late and will receive the U code. This is an unauthorised absence for that session.
Afternoon registers will be taken at 13.15 for EYFS and KS1, and 12.45 for KS2.
In accordance with the ‘Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006’, if your child arrives after the registers close, they will receive a mark, code U, that shows them to be on site, but this will not count as a present mark and it will mean they have an unauthorised absence. This may mean that you could face the possibility of a Fixed Penalty Notice or other legal action if the problem persists.
Children who are consistently late for school are disrupting not only their own education, but also that of other children. Where persistent lateness gives cause for concern, you will be invited to a meeting to resolve the issues. If there is no improvement following this meeting, further action will be taken which may include referral to external agencies.
You may approach the school at any time for support and advice if you are having difficulty getting your child to school on time or maintaining regular attendance.

It's always nice to have some lovely feedback! Parents often mention in passing how happy their children are, how much they have enjoyed their learning, or how they are grateful for a particular member of staff who has gone above and beyond.
Scan the QR code or click the button below for an opportunity to thank a member of Team Wincham for their hard work and efforts to provide the best opportunities and care.
There are a range of services we can signpost to, including financial support. There is a wide range of information available on the school website. This includes the Foodbank, free uniform, wider support with rising cost of living, and a range of other things.
