I'm sure everyone will join with me in congratulating Mr & Mrs Hamman on the birth of Luca Nicholas Laurence Hamman on the 8th of February. Both mum and baby are doing well.
Wincham Community Primary School is thrilled to celebrate a remarkable 16-year partnership with Njoro DEB Primary School in Kenya! This enduring connection is truly unique, with some of our current parents having participated in the partnership themselves as children, demonstrating its incredible long-term impact. This week's special assembly highlighted this amazing relationship and the vibrant Njoro community. In the assembly, we talked about Lewis Murray, who became the first person to have participated in the partnership as a child and as an adult. Lewis was a pupil at Wincham CP School in 2009, when the partnership was established.
In February 2023, Lewis visited Njoro DEB School as a sports coach working with Multiflex. On visiting the school, Lewis found a photo of him and his classmates from 2009 which had been on display in the school office ever since. Were you in Lewis's class at Wincham? Your photo could be there too!
We're excited to announce that Mrs. Webb has now arrived in Kenya and is already hard at work on the groundbreaking Kenya Project 2025! This ambitious project includes the "What is Kindness?" community project, a pupil-led initiative exploring kindness in the context of the Global Goals, coinciding with Random Acts of Kindness week. Mrs. Webb will be sharing the story of "Be Kind" and fostering collaborative community projects between both schools. She'll also be creating curriculum support videos showcasing life in Kenya, answering Wincham students’ questions on film to connect the children directly.
As a further demonstration of our commitment, Wincham has donated a portable projector to Njoro DEB, funded by previous corporate sponsorship, providing a valuable resource for their teachers. This partnership is not just about the present; it's building a legacy of global citizenship for generations to come!

On this episode of the Wake Up Wednesday Podcast, we’re breaking down the ways that scammers utilise ‘fake news’ and other tactics to manipulate their victims, as well as how best to protect young people from these concerns.
While misinformation and ‘fake news’ are well-known concerns online, it's also the case that scammers and other cyber-criminals can try to utilise this phony material to manipulate, frighten or otherwise persuade their victims into cooperating.
With constantly evolving scams and such a high volume of misinformation online, it's vital that parents and educators know how to safeguard the children in their care against these kinds of tactics. This week’s episode of the Wake Up Wednesday Podcast breaks down the most prominent ways in which scammers attempt to use ‘fake news’ to their advantage, as well as how to protect youngsters from being manipulated by such techniques.
Public libraries are hosting their highly successful Fancy Dress Swaps again this year from 1st February in preparation for World Book Day. Using the scheme could not be easier: donate any unwanted costumes to the library or see what outfits they have and take them for no charge, it’s that simple.

And why not use the opportunity to borrow a book or join the library while you’re there? Joining a child is free and easy and does not require ID. There are no late charges for Under 13s.
Please see the leaflets here for free courses for parents on topical issues. In particular there is a free online session about Supporting Healthy Screen Use, something school staff are often asked about.
