My Reflection 2/27/19
Charleston South Carolina is the epitome of southern charm and fairy tale magic. From the spanish moss hanging from the trees to the sweet tea and grits, this city is like a warm hug from grandma, makes you feel at home and keeps you asking questions and wanting to learn its history. The first thing that hit me about Charleston was its sense of diversity in architecture and landscape. You can drive past a jaw dropping home and turn the corner to find a home that looks as if it was ripped apart by fire spewing dragons. The age of this city shows itself kindly in the architecture with buildings dating back to the 17 and 1800's. Places that left me wanting more included, Waterfront park with it's swinging benches, rainbow row with flowers draping the windows, Angel Oak, the tree that spans 187 feet one way and Isle of Palms beach that showcases the grandeur of coastal living in South Carolina. The warmth of the southern sun was a nice break from our blistery cold in Chicago and being there with a true friend made it even better. I would call this trip a success from the beginning at the Bake shop to the end watching Dolphins from the pier. Grateful for this trip and all that are to come.
