Itinerary
My Reflection 3/7/19
Charlotte, North Carolina was a great day trip from Chicago's cold. The hour and a half flight allows you to spend a day in and around the city with the comfort of knowing you do not need to spend a ton of money or struggle to find more ways to fill your trip. I was able to visit all places in my itinerary within a few hours before heading back to the airport. I would warn that the Billy Graham Library is not just a cool barn looking library, it is an hour and half experience guided by multiple security guards and it is not for anyone who is uninterested in the faith journey of Billy Graham, or anyone with claustrophobia. If you enjoy being in movie type rooms and want to learn about this preacher, this is your place but I was not aware of this and had to find my way out before I had a panic attack. The Carolinas Aviation Museum was definitely worth the visit. With a variety of artifacts from the aviation industry and aircraft on display, this place was the perfect spot for any aviation enthusiast. The best part? US Airways Flight 1549, the Airbus A320 which is best known as the plane that landed in the Hudson, is on display at this museum. You can take in the story of the flight, the aircraft and all the damage, as well as artifacts from Sully, the now famous pilot, and the coverage and deplaning of this moment in history. Imagine being transported in time to that moment and become a passerby along the river, that is what this exhibit feels like. Overall, Charlotte was quaint and quiet but inviting to a solo traveler. (also every Uber driver in town is named Robert...I am joking but 4/5 of mine were).
