My Reflection 9/18/18
Barcelona, my cheetah girls destination. The humid hot Barcelona is a dream outside of the weather in summer through fall. This vibrant city is awake at all hours and filled with the best architecture, art, music, and tapas. I visited Barcelona to see my friend Anna and the city she was studying in. While she was at school, I took a hop on hop off bus throughout the city and walked from must see locations. I was astonished by the beautiful layout of the city in quadrants that contained the most intricate embellishments on each apartment building and facade. The view from Museu Nacional d'art de Catalunya was one not to miss and I spent about an hour at the top taking in the view of the city from above seeing la Sagrada Familia towering over the city even though when you stand under it, it does not feel as big. Gaudi's work in Casa Batllo is eye-catching and tourists block the corners getting their photos and taking it in. Having grown up around Mexican and Puerto Rican Spanish, I was certain I would be fine understanding the language however I began realizing how different their accents were and I had trouble distinguishing if they were speaking Catalan, the language of Catalonia in Barcelona, or Spanish at times. Overall, Barcelona was abounding in culture that is recognizable from the moment you arrive, embrace it!
