My Reflection 11/25/18
I feel extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to take this trip. Chocolate, beer, waffles, and frites? Sign me up! I had no idea what I was in for when my coworker and I decided to take a day trip to Brussels, but I am incredibly happy we did. With exactly 24 hours to see the city, we toured Brussels right from landing with our bags on our back. The main languages are french and dutch but everyone we encountered understood English as well, making me feel bad about my language deficiency once again. We walked from the train station to the Galeries Royales Saint Hubert where we saw way more chocolate than ever before, walked through the streets of Brussels to Manneken Pis and stopped for waffles along the way. We both had bites of Belgium waffle with Nutella and one with cookie butter and banana. Each stop we made was beautiful and I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy this city as much as I did. Be sure to have euro on you for street food like waffles, and be cautious drinking at Delirium as you may find yourself at the wrong bar. Please for the love of all things good in the world get a sandwich from TonTon Garby's it is worth the wait and the man that runs the place does so alone and will treat you like the king or queen that you are honey! Find a nice Airbnb walking distance to a train stop or close near the city for easy access to the train and sight seeing. Enjoy Grand Place at night with the lights on each building but most importantly in day time to see the true grandeur of the gold facades and Gothic architecture.
