My Hometown Reflection
Illinois, Chicago, where do I even try to begin?! My heart is full of love for this place. Most people who grow up in or around Chicago know that it takes on the persona of a state in itself. When traveling, no one from here says they live in Illinois, not because we don't think it is good enough or well known, but because our pride for this city has no bounds and even makes people from far suburbs like Schaumburg and Skokie take pride in this city. There are so many nooks of this city that are still waiting to be discovered and so many spots that have already been claimed and made known to the public. Bars and hang out places fill the city along with must try restaurants with the best ambiance in the Midwest. Parks, shows, and events are at each corner and invite everyone to join in at Millennium Park, Maggie Daley, Oz Park in Lincoln Park, Humboldt Park outside the city and in each concert hall and theatre of the city. Towering skyscrapers extend shadows over the lake and create the most beautiful skyline I have yet to see, or perhaps I am being bias. Rivaling fans show the DNA of the city at Cubs and White Sox games as they enjoy Chicago dogs and listen to bucket-boys play after games. Chicago is beautiful in all seasons, spring time flowers blossom along the concrete blocks, summertime means days at the beach with Buckingham fountain flowing, fall time brings changing of leaves along the city edge and wintertime in Chicago makes me feel like I am inside a snow-globe watching gentle snow fall. I could go on for ages because this place holds my heart, but it has to be experienced on your own. My lifetime of love can't paint the picture of Chicago you will meet because as Mark twain once said " She is always a novelty: for she is never the Chicago you saw when you passed through the last time."
