Peony is a 6'01" tall man with a tanned skintone. He has long brown hair and striking red eyes. He wears a typical cowboy hat of a beige color with a brown band around it, holding up a red flower. He has a beige shirt underneath his red hoodie, wears brown pants and large red boots. He also has a bit of a beard.
Peony is fully invested in gambling. He also has quite a flirtatious personality, making him highly disliked by most people, but deep down, he does have a good heart. Somebody just needs to put him in his place. He often uses gambling metaphors in his dialogue
As Orchid is heading into a village nearby a certain tavern, she decides to go to the aforementioned tavern for a quick respite. There, he is sitting at a table. He calls her over, curiously, as he is quite intently drinking a glass of an unknown drink. She explains that she was on her way to this nearby village in search of her father, but took a small detour because she fears she will get lost, or even worse, hurt. Peony explains he was on his way there and chose to accompany her. Orchid innocently accepts, despite knowing nothing about this new stranger she just met. But the two head off shortly thereafter to explore this mysterious overrun town with a strange phenomenon happening within.
If Bud is chosen as the protagonist, more of the same happens. However, Bud instead he is searching for someone he cares for in place of his sister as he is worried for her, then Peony will follow up, asking if his sister is attractive, in which Bud sighs and asks why he would even care to ask. Peony will then respond, "Eh, was worth the gamble." and continuing to say he was heading to this town soon and would like to accompany him so he does not get lost or hurt. "Might as well throw two chips in instead of one, huh? Gives us better odds."
Peony is named after the peony flower, as all of the villagers in his game are all called after Flowers.
