Arts & rats

A little more than a hundred and fifty years ago, the Arts & Crafts movement was born in England. The movement echoed the concerns of artists-craftsmen facing “progress”, in the context of colonial domination.

Landscapes and societies were rapidly being transformed under the impetus of the industrial revolution, which brought about new social organization. In following in the footsteps of this artistic movement, I saw an astonishing actuality.

The dominants dominate even more and progress remains their credo. What is different is their egocentric, arrogant and derisory affirmation through the brands that shape our reality.”

Encounter is a game of chance, and all games are pleasant. It was through this game that Bryn allowed me to combine her mythical creatures and incorporate them into my pictures. Associating today's brands with eternal myths now seems obvious to me, but I never saw this before. It was my meeting with Bryn that made this connection possible. Chance plays an  immense role in artistic creation, to the point where I believe that those who think they are creating actually have little to do with it.  Thank you Bryn, for this pleasant chance.
