DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY (DBT) GROUP

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a broad-based cognitive-behavior treatment designed to treat a broad range of symptoms and concerns. DBT is a skills-based, evidence-based treatment that emphasizes creating a life worth living to support developing a sense of self-agency in one’s life. The overall goal of DBT skills training is to help individuals change behavioral, emotional, thinking, and interpersonal patterns associated with problems in living. Skills group is structured in four (4) behavioral skill sets: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. The entire group lasts a total of 33- 35 weeks, with each complete module lasting a total of 10 to 13 weeks. 

 

GRIEF AND BEREAVEMENT GROUP

Grief and bereavement refer to the emotional and psychological response to significant loss and the process of mourning and adjustment following the loss of a loved one.  This group will offer a safe, non-judgmental space for participants to share their thoughts, emotions and struggles following significant loss. This group helps participants:

CBT GROUP (AGES 18+)

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a practical, evidence-based, short-term form of psychotherapy. It helps individuals to develop skills and strategies for becoming and staying healthy. CBT helps people to examine how they make sense of what is happening around them and how these perceptions affect the way they feel. 

 

In CBT, clients learn to identify, question, and change the thoughts, attitudes and beliefs related to the emotional and behavioral reactions that cause them difficulty.

By monitoring and recording thoughts during upsetting situations, people learn how they think can contribute to emotional problems such as depression and anxiety.

 

The entire group lasts a total of 12 weeks, with each complete module lasting a total of 4-6 weeks. Group focuses on a mixture of skill development, discussion, and real time use of the skills taught during group.

 

This group is geared towards treating clinical depression, but CBT has been also proven to treat: 




MINDFULLNESS-BASED COGNITIVE THEARPY GROUP (MBCT) (AGES 18+)

MBCT combines training in mindfulness meditation practices with principles from cognitive behavioral therapy.  The heart of this work lies in becoming acquainted with the modes of mind that often characterize and contribute to mood disorders, while simultaneously learning to develop a new relationship to them.  The program consists of 8 weeks. 

Research suggests that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy can be effective in helping individuals who have experienced multiple episodes of depression.

While it was originally developed to treat depression, it has also been shown to be effective for other uses including:



TRAUMA-BASED GROUP FOR WOMEN (25+)

The decision to address challenges in our lives is never an easy one. The emotional demand needed in order to heal especially surrounding trauma is deep, painful and conflictual. This trauma-based group will be a safe space where clients can come to explore, share(voluntarily) and heal from traumatic experiences. This group with equip and provide participants with some of the following ( and more):

·         Psycho education of different forms of trauma (i.e. childhood; sexual; relationships)

·         Coping mechanisms

·         Empowerment

·         Utilizes different forms of psychotherapy to motivate and assist in cognitive reconstruction of self

A new group will begin every 8 weeks.

The entire group lasts a total of 10 weeks. Group focuses on a mixture of skill development, discussion, and real time use of the skills taught during group. This group module is geared towards treating generalized anxiety disorder, low mood, depression, panic, or worry.
