Batteries
Charging, Maintenance, and Care of all your Robot Batteries
This is a Resource Page, so that means it's a Mish-Mash of Battery Resources found on the Interweb. I'm a huge supporter of Open Source and Creative Commons resources. This is another way of saying Free, Equitable and Accessible resources... 📽️ 🎧 📰 📖 📝🛠️
Essential Questions:
What is the best way to maintain a battery and extend it's life?
Is it important to understand the differences between all the battery technologies?

Prerequisites:
No explicit prerequisite course work or coding knowledge is required, but students are be able to read and research about Battery technology.
Caution & Safety Considerations:
Primer: "Aaron, I can imagine no way in which this thing could be considered anywhere remotely close to safe. All I know is I spent six hours in there and I'm still alive... You still want to do it?"
As with any activity, please make sure you are using appropriate safety equipment. If you are coding, writing, reading, or working a lab, make sure you stand up and stretch every hour or so, Please consider any safety issues connecting to a Raspberry Pi, Arduino, computers and other electronic equipment.

Ni-MH Battery Technology
Mechatronics - <topic> - 📖 Lesson Tutorial
NIMH as no cell memory but too low a voltage can harm the cells. If you don't plan to use it for a while be sure to leave some charge in it. Good rule is to discharge NIMH to .9V per cell, that comes to 5.4volt for the 7.2 volt, 6 cell pack.
When you want to use it discharge then peak charge
discharge and charge at about 10% of the rated mAh. So a 3600mAh should discharge at about 360mA, which given Ohms you could use a 20 ohm 5 watt resistor, If you want closer to 1 Amp, use a 10 ohm, this will give you a starting current of about 720mA. 5 ohms will give you about 1.4Amps
