BEST PRACTICES FOR SOCIAL MEDIA POSTING
Guidelines For Posting:
Always keep our mission of being welcoming and inviting to all at the heart of your messaging. Check your post with a critical eye and see if it could be viewed as offensive or discriminatory. Honest mistakes happen!
Less is more: brief captions tend to be more successful.
When replying to camper's comments, keep your reply brief, polite, professional and direct them to continue the conversation at camper@ or manager@.
Keep it professional: When replying to comments or DM's, you are the voice of the campground vs exchanging personal messages. The inbox should not be viewed by guests as a direct line to a general manager, but rather a tool for the campground as a whole to communicate to its guests.
Ideas for What to Post:
Campers enjoying their time on the campground. This way viewers will be able to imagine themselves there on the campground and will want to book!
Activities that will be going on for our themed weekends, or anything else you plan on having!
Attractive images of RV & Tent sites, cabins, etc.
Photos of nature on your campground.
Scenic photos, like a sunset or sunrise.
Images of your team working on the campground. This way, viewers will get a glimpse of a friendly staff!
Local Attractions and events!
Tailor content to showcase the beauty and offerings of each season.
Taking the best amateur photos of campgrounds and campers enjoying themselves can be a rewarding and enjoyable experience. Here are some tips to help you capture memorable shots:
You know the most attractive, appealing, and camper-favorite spots on your campground! Highlight those! Put yourself in your camper’s shoes (or hiking boots!). What would you want to see before coming? What would get you excited to book or about your upcoming stay?
Take advantage of the “Golden Hour”. The golden hour, aka the period shortly after sunrise or before sunset, provides soft, warm lighting that lends itself to a magical feeling in your photos. Think of this as nature providing your pictures with a boost to the mood and setting of your photos, enhancing whatever it is you are capturing.
Candid shots convey the true essence and joy of campers enjoying themselves. Be patient and observant and spontaneous, genuine moments will present themselves. No need to sit and stake out the perfect shot – these days, we all have our camera at the ready in our pockets. Campers engaged in various activities can give a sense of scale and provide a point of interest in your photos as well. Avoid asking people to pose for the camera, as most people find it hard to picture themselves in the scene when staring at staged photos or portraits of other people.
Showcase the natural beauty of the campground. Include your natural surroundings as much as possible, even when the main focus of your photo is people. Mindfully incorporate trees, mountain views, bodies of water, etc. to frame your shot or act as a backdrop to create an attractive composition for your photo that will make people excited to visit.
Experiment with different perspectives. Don’t limit yourself to shooting from eye level. Try different angles to add variety to our photo galleries. Get down low to get the perspective of a young camper or a camper sitting by the fire. Find an elevated position for a birds-eye view of the campground.
Composition is key! Use the rule of thirds to create a visually balanced image. Place your subject off-center, dividing the frame into thirds both vertically and horizontally, and align important elements along these grid lines or at their intersections.
Tell a Story! Aim to capture a series of photos that tell a narrative about the camping experience. Capture moments of setting up tents, preparing meals, campfire conversations, and exploring the surroundings. This makes your photos more relatable, engaging, and memorable.
Practice and experimentation are key to improving your photography skills! Enjoy it, immerse yourself in the camping atmosphere and have fun capturing the beauty and joy of campgrounds and campers.
CAMP ON!
