GREG HATCH

You could say Greg Hatch’s love for volleyball runs in his blood, so coaching the sport for the Saskatchewan Games came easy for him. In 2002 and 2006, he coached the Zone 9 female volleyball team for the Saskatchewan Winter Games in Humboldt and Melfort respectively. In 2010, he joined the Mission Staff for Team North and then returned to his coaching roots for the 2012 and 2016 Games where he coached the male volleyball teams for Team North. He says his 2012 and 2016 Games experiences were extra special because he had the opportunity to coach once with his daughter and once with his son. “It was a real honour to represent La Loche and Northern Saskatchewan at the Games,” he said. “I have great respect for the leadership and all the volunteers from Northern Saskatchewan that make it possible for our teams to be able to participate and compete in the Games.” When Greg speaks of the Games’ legacy, he believes it’s carried on through many important aspects of the multi-sport event including the volunteers, host communities, athletes and team selection committees. He added: “The Games bring the entire province together through high level competition that leads to National and International competition for some athletes, coaches and officials.”
