BRIAN CLARK

Brian Clark’s 2014 Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame recognition as a Builder stemmed from his incredible dedication as a coach through many sport endeavors including his experience with the Saskatchewan Games and the Olympics. His first Games experience was in 1972 when he coached the track and field team at the Saskatchewan Summer Games. Brian went on to bolster an impressive coaching resume including the 1976 Olympic Trials in Montreal, 1978 Pan Am Junior Games, the Canadian Hopefuls team who competed at meets in France and England and the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He continued to coach at a variety of levels for track and field among other sports like volleyball, basketball, and football until 1996 when he retired. He values the experience he gained from the Saskatchewan Games as it helped catapult him into an increasingly successful career. As for its legacy he believes it lies in their capacity to offer young athletes the opportunity to take their sport to national and international levels of competition. With 13 grandchildren, Brian says he can’t help but let his love for track and field live on from the stands as he cheers them on during competitions.
