EMILE ST AMAND

Emile St Amand’s first experience with the Saskatchewan Games began in 1976 as a new member on the Board for the Saskatchewan Summer Games in Swift Current. That opportunity ignited his passion for the Games and Emile went on to serve on the Saskatchewan Games Council for about 15 years. His involvement in the province’s sporting community also includes his experience as Parks and Recreation Director in Swift Current for 17 years and Director for the Sport and Recreation Branch with the Government of Saskatchewan from 1983-2013. He also went on to serve as Mission Staff and once as Chef de Mission at a number of Canada Games. Personally, Emile says he enjoyed watching a plethora of young athletes, officials and coaches use their Saskatchewan Games experience as a steppingstone to advance to National and International competitions. In that same thought, Emile says the idea of participants using their experience as an opportunity to earn their way to events like the Canada Games and the Olympics also serves as the Saskatchewan Games’ legacy.
