DENNIS BEERLING

Dennis Beerling is man of many trades, including four-time track and field official and clinician for the Saskatchewan Games. He was also Mission Staff for a number of years for the Saskatoon Zone, and member of the Saskatchewan Games Council from 1981-85. Additionally, he was Chairman of the Site Selection Committee for the 1985 Saskatchewan Winter Games. His passion for track and field allowed him the opportunity to officiate at most provincial track and field championships over the past 25 years. His love for sport does not end there. He also poured himself into softball and had the opportunity to coach seven provincial championship teams. He sat on the Board of the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan for a total of 12 years, was inducted as a Builder into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 1997 and into the Sport Canada Officials Hall of Fame in 2014. He enjoyed helping athletes compete at the provincial level and was elated to see some move on to compete at the national and international levels. As for the Games’ legacy, Dennis believes it’s built into the facilities and equipment left behind in host communities which offer an invaluable experience for youth in sport for years to come.
