DISCUSSION
Syllabication refers to breaking words up into their component syllables.
Syllables are a way that we can chop up our words to help us with spelling. As we chop the words into parts, its new piece is called a syllable.
Examples:
1 syllable:
book dress phone cat
2 syllables:
haircut - hair - cut parrot - par-rot
toilet - toi-let bracelet - brace-let
3 syllables:
banana - ba-na-na pineapple - pine-ap-ple
coconut - co-co-nut computer - com-pu-ter
4 syllables:
delivery - de-li-ve-ry avocado - a-vo-ca-do
babysitter - ba-by-sit-ter alligator -al-li-ga-tor
