VERB TENSES
Verb tense refers to when the action in a sentence takes place—whether it happened in the past, is happening in the present, or will happen in the future. So, it depends on when the action takes place.
TYPES OF VERB TENSES:
Past Tense - means the action already happened
Present Tense - means the action is happening now
Future Tense - means the action will still happen
Past Tense
means it already happened
add -ed
Examples:
I washed the dishes.
My brother watched a movie yesterday.
Last year, I travelled to Armenia.
Sam cooked a tasty dinner last night.
The girl ate her dinner.
My mother bought a dress for me.
I slept for 8 hours last night.
Present Tense
means the action is happening now
add -s or -es, or keep as is depending on the subject of the sentence
Examples:
The sun rises in the east.
Johnny goes to the gym daily.
He reads a book every night.
He studies hard for his exam.
I eat breakfast every morning.
I drink coffee every morning.
It rains outside.
They live in a big house.
They walk their dog every morning.
They take the bus to school.
Future Tense
means the action will happen
add will before the action word/verb
Examples:
I'm playing football tomorrow.
I hope you will come to my party on Tuesday.
I will see you tomorrow.
I'm going to drive to work today.
Tim will be at the meeting.
Don't lift that. You will hurt yourself.
She will write the letter after studying.
The girls are going to sing "Amazing Grace" on the weekend.
You will get the letter by mail.
I will miss you when you move to another villa.
