As the upstanding organization it is, the GCSF will regularly accept requests for help from clients all across the Great Ocean! While many of these undertakings involve delving into a dungeon to make discoveries, save unfortunate wanderers, or even chase after criminals, there are always odd-jobs to run at the behest of the guild itself as well.
Missions are a semi-regular activity that lasts for two months at a time! These are prompts centering around the current on-going story arc that teams can participate in to earn Rank Points, item rewards, and Poke!
Missions are the primary way that your team will rank up, giving them access to perks such as special recruits and gaining another team!
Missions are an activity that gives your teams and characters the chance to participate in the overarching group plot at the time. They will last for 2 months in the period of time before Holiday Hills happens, giving you plenty of time to complete your submissions! Occasionally, we may swap out missions for some other event as well!
Each of the three branches has their own set of prompts and objectives to complete, all of which will typically be somehow related to the current goals of the GCSF and the events that surround the Great Ocean.
On each "Mission Briefing" page for the respective branches, you'll find:
✦ Up to 3 missions that can be completed within a set time period
✦ A summary of the prompt that must be fulfilled / depicted in your submission(s)
✦ The minimum requirements for each submission to be counted towards rewards
✦ What rewards you gain from each prompt
✦ ...and any additional information that can be used to flesh out your submission!
To submit a mission, simply create a piece of artwork or writing that follows the prompt(s) for said mission, and then submit it via one of the group's graders! Which one you use is noted on the mission prompt itself, so be sure to read through all of the details on your branch's missions page as well as this one!
It is possible to complete all 9 missions in a single mission period. However, by default, you can only complete missions that are assigned to your team's branch!
In order to access the missions from the other branches, you must participate in a collaboration with teams of those other branches!
There are a few restrictions on how accessing other branch missions works:
✦ It must be a collaborative piece -- cameoing other teams does not count!
You have to work with others to gain access to other missions!
✦ You cannot gain access to other branches via your own teams!
For example: you have two teams -- one Wayfarer and one Rescuer.
❌ Your Wayfarer team cannot do the Rescuer missions even if you include members of both teams in the piece. The owner of the other team must be unrelated to your team entirely.
✦ Similarly, a shared team cannot gain access to another branch via teams owned by either team owner!
For example: you have a solo Wayfarer team, you share a Bounty Hunter team with a friend, and your friend has a solo Rescuer team.
❌ The shared Bounty Hunter team cannot gain access to Wayfarer missions through your solo team.
❌ They also cannot gain access to Rescuer missions via your friend's solo team.
If multiple of your own teams are featured in a submission, only one of your teams may gain Rank Points for the completion.
Because of this, it is recommended that you only bring one of your own teams per submission if both teams would benefit from earning Rank Points.
If you do feature multiple teams in a single submission, you will be asked which team you would like to grant the RP to before they are added to the inventories.
However, if one of your featured teams is already at the maximum Rank and can no longer earn RP, the Rank Points will automatically be added to your other featured team that can still gain RP.
For completing a mission assigned to your team's branch, you will receive 1 Rank Point (RP)!
Ranking up requires 3 RP total. By completing all 3 branch missions for your team, you can gain one full Rank Up!
For completing a mission assigned to a different branch in a collab, you will receive 0.5 RP (one-half of a Rank Point). By completing all 9 missions across every branch, your team can gain two full Rank Ups in a single mission period!
All mission completions will also reward any items or Poke bonuses that are included in the mission details!
Though repeated runs of a mission are allowed, once a team has completed a mission and received rewards for it, they will not receive the RP or item rewards a second time. Poke earnings for the piece will be distributed as normal.
If you complete all 9 missions, you'll gain a bonus reward as well! This bonus reward will change between the mission periods, but will be announced whenever new missions are posted!
Each user can claim item rewards for completing a mission once. The items are given to the team that was sent to on the mission, and any subsequent completions of that same mission by the user will not grant any rewards even if their team has changed.
Example #1
The mission grants 1 Treasure Box and 1 RP as a base reward.
✦ User123 sends Team XYZ to complete Wayfarers 01.
✦ After submitting the mission, Team XYZ is rewarded 1 Treasure Box and 1 Rank Point, and User123 is marked as having completed Wayfarers 01.
✦ User123 sends Team ABC -- a completely different team -- to complete Wayfarers 01.
✦ After submitting the mission, Team ABC does not receive 1 Treasure Box for the mission but the team does gain 1 Rank Point.
✦ The reason why Team ABC does not get the item rewards is because User123 has already completed the mission with a different team.
Similarly, each team can only receive the item rewards or Rank Points for a mission once.
For shared teams, if one of the team's owners completes the mission using the shared team without collabing with their partner, the item rewards go to the shared team.
Following that, if the second team owner completes the mission using the shared team, the items cannot be given to the team as the team has already been given the rewards.
In cases like these where shared team owners complete the missions independently, the first completion for the team will grant the item and RP, and the second completion done by a different team owner will grant a small Poke bonus to that user.
Example #2
The mission grants 1 Treasure Box and 1 RP as a base reward, and 1000p as a partial reward.
✦ User123 and User456 both own Team UVW.
✦ User123 does a solo submission of Wayfarers 01 with Team UVW.
✦ After submitting, User123 is marked as having completed the mission, and 1 Treasure Box and 1 Rank Point is given to Team UVW.
✦ A few days later, User456 does a solo submission of Wayfarers 01 with Team UVW.
✦ Though User456 has not been marked as having completed the mission, Team UVW has been marked as receiving item rewards and Rank Point from the mission.
✦ To ensure that User456's efforts have not gone to waste, User456 instead receives an additional 1000p for the team's overall second submission for Wayfarers 01.
In cases where both team owners work together to collab on a mission, the item reward and RP will be given to the team as normal, and the bonus Poke for the second completion will be rewarded at the same time to both team owners.
Example #3
The mission grants 1 Treasure Box and 1 RP as a base reward, and 1000p as a partial reward.
✦ User123 and User456 both own Team UVW.
✦ User123 and User456 collab on a submission of Wayfarers 01, both using their characters on Team UVW.
✦ After submitting, User123 and User456 are both marked as having completed Wayfarers 01, and 1 Treasure Box and 1 Rank Point is given to Team UVW.
✦ At the same time, an additional 1000p is granted to both User123 and User456.
The Poke is added to each person's solo inventory if they have one.
If neither team owners have a solo inventory (i.e. the shared team is both people's first team), a total of 2000p is granted to Team UVW's inventory.
If the mission reward is NOT an item but is instead Poke, then the Poke reward is granted to each user regardless of the team ownership and collabing situation.
Example #4
The mission grants 2000p and 1 RP as a base reward (not a partial reward).
✦ A solo team owner has 2000p added to their primary inventory, and the participating team gains 1 RP.
✦ A shared team owner who submits a piece without collabing with the team's co-owner has 2000p added to their solo inventory if they have one.
If not, the 2000p goes to the shared inventory. The shared team gains 1 RP.
✦ Two shared team owners work and submit a piece together. Each person earns 2000p which is added to each individuals solo inventory if they have one.
If not, a total of 4000p is added to the shared inventory. The shared team gains 1 RP.
Missions may still be completed after the deadline! If you missed the initial deadline and extensions for a particular mission period, fret not! You can still be rewarded for completing them later on!
Any missions listed under Mission > Past Missions on the website may still be submitted, however late submissions will NOT earn any items/currency or bonus rewards for completion. However, completing a mission past the deadline will still grant your team Rank Points!
Keep in mind that all of the requirements remain the same however, including needing to collab with teams of different branches to access every mission!
