Fall 2024 Holiday Hills!
Fall Holiday Hills ended on October 31st at 11:59 PM EST!
Extensions given out for this Holiday Hills will end on November 7th at 11:59 PM EST!
The section below is a recap of what occurred in the prologue to this event!
If you'd like to read through the introduction yourself before proceeding, you check it out on this page!
After a long month of hard work and things finally returning to normal, the guild leaders decided to take Orion out to the beaches of Ethovalon to watch the final sunset before Chronos's Holiday Hills began. When the last of the sun's rays disappeared beneath the horizon however, disaster struck!
A portal much like the ones that have been encountered by the GCSF and its allies over the last year tore open in the sky above the oceans and another strange and foreign entity came through! The rupture caused by its arrive created a shockwave that forced those with in its impact zone to be forcibly changed into their dungeon forms. As it took flight over Ethovalon, its very presence seemed to sap the light from anything it passed over, leaving part of the city in a total blackout.
Something seemed to catch its attention however, and it soon turned away from the remainder of the city. Passing over the beach once more, it snatched Orion up in its jaws and made off with him towards the lighthouse!
With a shroud of shadow over the city's shores all the way up to its marketplace and a part of the residential district, the guild leaders regrouped and hurried back to headquarters to begin coordinating evacuation and rescue efforts as well as formulate a battle plan to take down the new threat!
Before he was snatched away, Wyndam recalled Orion uttering a word -- the first since he arrived in Ethovalon:
Lunala.
DUNGEON:
An section of Ethovalon has become shrouded in darkness, draining the color itself from the parts of the city that have been affected. The shadows have grown deeper and darker than ever before, almost threatening to swallow it whole. A fog that has rolled in from the ocean begins to permeate throughout the nooks and crannies, snaking its way through the backalleys and main road alike, granting an even eerier and more dreadful atmosphere to the once-lively town.
Above the city, just a short while ago, the beautiful night sky was a comforting sight. Now, it is starless and pitch black. Not even the moon seems visible anymore, instead replaced by something resembling the moon. A shining, luminescent bat-winged creature from another world sits atop the lighthouse after having stolen the lights from Ethovalon. You can feel it watching, tracking every tiny perceived movement even from so far away.
You better not linger for too long in a place like this...
[ The images below are loosely for inspiration on how to depict the dungeon. They are optional, so feel free to come up with your own interpretations! ]
There are 6 special Seasonal Variants in this dungeon!
If you recruit any Seasonal Variant Pokemon, their feral design must be somewhat similar to the reference! If you wish to deviate slightly from its design, you must post it in the #design-check channel for approval. However, once they evolve, their design is up to you!
For more on Variants, see the Potions & Variants page!
Read this section for information on creating and submitting a dungeon for Holiday Hills!
🌙 Like a regular dungeon, a Holiday Hills dungeon consists of:
a maximum of 4 characters belonging to a team
rewards for Poke and Candy capped at a maximum of 7 characters in art pieces (such as 4 player characters and 3 NPCs)
requirements for art pieces including a background
requirements for written pieces having a word count of at least 500 words
🌙 There are no level requirements in Holiday Hills, so characters of all levels are permitted!
🌙 Unlike a regular dungeon, characters do not gain levels and teams cannot use items! Post-dungeon items like Poke Radars or Encounter Swaps can be used afterwards however!
🌙 Use the Holiday Hills Dungeon Grader to submit your work -- just like you would submit a regular dungeon!
🌙 Variant Recruits gained from Holiday Hills cannot be altered using other Potions or Juices for a minimum of 3 months! For more information, see Restrictions on Holiday Hills Recruits.
🌙 As always, please put genuine effort into your work! Spamming low-effort or otherwise rushed work in an attempt to "grind" is highly discouraged and may result in a warning if abused!
🍬 To see how much Candy you should be receiving for your work, see the Holiday Hills page!
The coming of Lunala has caused chaotic energy to spiral out of control, centralized on a section of the city. The affected areas include the entirety of the eastern docks and beach, and only a small section of the marketplace; the residential district; and the woods leading towards the Luminous Spring (it seems the spring itself is unaffected). The cliff where the lighthouse is located is at the heart of this "dungeon", and it is where Lunala has taken Orion.
Try and keep to the general setting of those areas when drawing or writing about the dungeon itself! You can also get creative and write about what the interior of the lighthouse may look like as well!
Only in those affected areas are people transformed into their dungeon (feral) forms! The remainder of Ethovalon is still shrouded in darkness, but it is not considered a dungeon beyond the areas listed and characters should be depicted in their gijinka/humanoid forms!
In addition to the recruitable Pokemon listed above (including the Variants), there have been sightings of Pokemon who seem... sickly. While the sight of such an affliction may seem new to those who are newer to the guild, other members may find the condition rather familiar.
It seems that those who linger for an extended amount of time within the dungeon are becoming rapidly affected by symptoms very reminiscent of the Shadow Illness that swept across the land some time ago. It's not exactly the same as before and it seems that people begin recovering as soon as they are out of the thick of the darkness and back beneath a source of light. Because of this, leadership has theorized that removing the source of the darkness will return the afflicted to their normal selves.
Still, be careful while you're exploring the dungeons as it does seem that shadow-afflicted Pokemon maybe encountered as well!
(Note: This is merely for flavour purposes and recruits from this dungeon will not have the Shadow Illness when recruited.)
The last time one of these foreign entities faced the guild, there was some leeway to attempt to make peace with them. This time, however, is different. Lunala is hostile, and does not seem open to idle chatter and negotiations. They seem to be a formidable opponent -- one that is unquestionably dangerous to approach based on their presence alone. And yet... what choice do we have?
In order to rescue Orion from the clutches of the entity and to deprive it of the light it stole, coming to blows will be inevitable. Those who are brave enough may attempt a head-on approach -- the most direct way to put a stop to Lunala's reign of terror and save the guild's friend. Others may opt to take a more subtle approach, ensuring that Orion is safe before attempting to confront Lunala herself.
Whatever you deem appropriate for your party, do not grievously harm her! Even if she has brought darkness to Ethovalon, there's a chance that what we are witnessing is similar to what Radiant Sun Solgaleo had been going through in its confusion and fright!
For this Holiday Hills, we're adding in a small bonus for all members after a certain number of total dungeon submissions has been reached!
After a total of 65 Shadowed Shores dungeons have been completed, all submissions for the remainder of the event (including Tasks and RP) will gain a flat bonus of +50 Candy!
The bonus may increase as we receive more submissions as well!
This is only the second time we're trying something like this, and so this system may or may not return for future Holiday Hills events and the flat bonus may be rebalanced if it does! We highly suggest trying to pace yourself, and to not rush or overwork yourself in pursuit of this goal. This section will be periodically updated as submissions come in.

Last updated: Oct 28, 2024Unless otherwise state, these event prompts are for characters in gijinka/humanoid form!
Prompts done with ferals will not count for Candy but can be submitted for Poke!
Added for Clarification: Tasks are still to be completed in gijinka form only! The entirety of Ethovalon is under a veil of shadow, but only the areas mentioned above in A Mystery Dungeon in Ethovalon?! are considered a dungeon.
While only a part of Ethovalon seems to be within the chaotic magicks that have brought about the dungeon, the guild leaders have deemed it best to evacuate civilians in the affected areas as well as those who live near the threshold. You'll want to bring lanterns or some other source of light as it seems that all that was illuminated in the area has since been snuffed out, rendering those parts of the city in a total blackout.
Chronos has opened the doors to the manor atop the Holiday Hills, not for festivities this time but for refuge. With the halls brightly lit and previously prepared for revel, the manor is now the brightest fixture in all of Ethovalon, so you can't miss it. Heading up there will be your best bet!
Time is of the essence as it appears that those who linger within the darkness start exhibiting worrying symptoms -- symptoms of the dreaded Shadow Illness that swept across the land some time ago...
Chronos is displeased to say the least. He was pleased to be doing charity work in the springtime with his resources, deeming it a necessary part in restoring hope at the time that came just after disasters swept the globe. But now, the city has been deprived of a traditional celebration for the third time in a row. He's opened up the doors to the Holiday Hills manor for the purposes of safety and evacuation, but he's decided to defy the circumstances in his own way.
Chronos has supplied members of the GCSF with a countless array of lanterns, torches, stringed lights, and more in the hopes of restoring light to the darkened parts of the city with such tools and devices. He wants you to head out to the affected areas of the city and push back the pervading darkness that has descended upon beloved Ethovalon. It's time to bring back the light!
Though the members of the GCSF are undoubtly busy rescuing civilians, restoring some measure of light to the city, and confronting the monstrous entity that has come to Ethovalon, you must remember to take care of yourself as well!
The enormous ballroom which typically houses an extravagant costume party is open to any and all who need a moment to breathe -- as is the rest of the manor grounds. Take some time to clear your head; go on a quiet stroll in the autumn-themed garden, grab some refreshments in the ballroom, or check in on affected friends and family while you're here. Maybe you could even try and entertain the guests to break the tension a little!
The manor was all ready to go for a spooky, Halloween-themed bonanza and so it's fully decorated and stocked for plenty of guests. Though now, the fun embellishments seem a little bittersweet...
It doesn't seem likely that there will be much tricking or treating this year for the citizens of Ethovalon, but that doesn't mean that your plans have to go to waste! As a lighthearted activity unrelated to the main plot at hand, show off what your character might have been wearing out on Halloween or to Chronos's ball!
For this prompt, you can use the Halloween Costume Meme Template! By filling this, you'll receive a reward for the prompt itself in addition to a small bonus for using an official meme template on your first submission!
On subsequent submissions of this task, do not select "Meme using template" as you can only claim the bonus once!
