This guide will provide you with some great advice, tips and tricks, and a thorough explanation of how to go about creating a team!
You'll be in the guild and moving up the ranks in no time!
Good luck with joining and have fun!
Firstly, you must join the Discord. Doing this will be required to participate in group activities, so this is crucial! Once you've posted your introduction, you may then ask for a set of rolls in the #pokemon-rolls channel.
A mod will get back to you with two completely random lists of six Pokemon (twelve in total). These Pokemon can only be of the lowest possible evolutionary stage; cannot be Legendary, Sub-Legendary, Paradox, or Mythical; and can be from any generation.
You do not have to pick which Pokemon you would like to use right away, and you do not need to tell the mods which ones you want to use.
There are 3 options available when choosing how your team will be first set up.
Option 1 | Solo Leader Team
Your leader works alone without the aid of a partner leader. Whether you prefer working alone or partnering up with different people during missions is up to you!
You will be able to choose from all 12 of your rolled Pokemon for your leader.
Option 2 | Two-Leader Team
You can create two leaders that will work together through thick and thin! These characters both belong to you! They can do missions alone or partner up with other teams!
One of the team leaders must be from the first list of six Pokemon and the other leader must be selected from the second list of six.
Option 3 | Team with a Friend
Come together with a friend and collaborate on building a team together! You each have one leader and are still always free to work with others on missions as well!
Both people who choose this option each get 12 Pokemon to choose from!
The GCSF doesn't allow for multiple teams with the same name, so your team's name has to be unique!
(Something about it making things harder in terms of paperwork...)
See the Members & Teams List for all of the taken team names!
✦ Your team leader(s) must be at least 18 years old. The minimum age required to join the guild is 16 years old for recruits, and the maximum age a character may physically be is 65 years old.
✦ Leaders and regular recruits may not be Legendary, Sub-legendary, Paradox, or Mythical Pokemon. Ultra Beasts are unknown to the setting as of present and are also not allowed.
✦ Completely new members must start with the lowest evolutionary stage and non-Variant, non-shiny versions of their chosen Pokemon. Future leaders for existing members and any recruit may start evolved and as Variants provided you have the necessary items!
✦ Typical Pokemon gender restrictions do not apply. Restrictions on gender do not exist in this setting, allowing you to make characters like a cisgender male Salazzle to exist or a cisgender female Meowstic with the appearance of a male Meowstic from the official Pokemon series. Gender and gender expression is completely open for you to play with. Pride events and pride flags do exist in this setting!
✦ Grotesque body horror and disturbing imagery are not allowed. Things like multiple eyes (with exceptions), holes, large mouths, excessive teeth, visible bones or internal organs, etc. are likely to be rejected or asked to be changed.
➤ There are a few exceptions to this rule:
Characters may have up 4 eyes total only if the eyes are still on the face (i.e. not in odd locations such as on the hands) and are not hyper-realistic or otherwise.
Characters may have exposed bones or see-through body parts only if there is no gore or internal organs visible! A good example of this is shown on the character Melinoë from Hades 2.
✦ Potions allow for the addition of extra features including a tail, wings, horns, and possibly more! However, you may not add additional arms or legs to design.
✦ The genre of the setting is fantasy/steampunk! The time period is based loosely on the Victorian Era in terms of attire, so try to stay roughly accurate to the time period if using real-world inspirations. Inspiration from attire before this time period is also permitted. In terms of fictional media you could use for inspiration, there are games such as Rune Factory, Fire Emblem, Legend of Zelda, Genshin Impact, and even Dungeons & Dragons!
✦ Do not make designs based off of real-world cultural folklore without doing your research. What may appear to be an innocent trend online may actually have been appropriated from living cultures and religions that actively disapprove the use of such imagery. Any designs submitted that explicitly reference such things will be denied outright.
Please check in #design-check or via #submit-a-ticket before submitting an application if you are unsure if a character's design or story would be allowed within the rules of the group!
