Personal Story Tasks are focused on individual characters and the personal trials they may undergo on their own time or in their pasts. They feature plot threads that you can choose to pursue if you wish to have your character be unusual in some way, and they can feature the chance for one to simply reflect on how far they've come and what may be in store for their future.

Through strange and unusual circumstances, you were taken from your original time period -- or maybe you were from a different timeline entirely separate to this one. Regardless of what has brought you here now in the present, it's painfully obvious to you now that home is so, so far away...

Perhaps recounting stories of your former home comforts and reassures you. Perhaps it was a friend or starry-eyed civilian who asked you to do so after they realized you were somewhat "odd". Maybe some of these tales were ones you told the guild leaders when they asked you about your history. Maybe you plan to keep such things close to the chest.

Whatever the case may be, a little reminiscing on your own personal past could never hurt... right?

In recent days, you've been feeling... off. At first, you chocked it up to the weather, or maybe even stress at work recently. Whatever it is, it's making you feel bad. Everything feels heavier. You're feeling more fatigued than usual, or at the very least there's something that's putting you in a sour mood and you can't quite place your finger on it.

Stranger still, parts of your body have been blackening. It was unnoticeable at first -- mistaken for dirt under your nails or a stain that was hard to wash out -- but now, it's concerning.

Then, something occurs to you. Perhaps you overheard more senior members of the guild talking about it or maybe you've done your research into the matter, but it seems possible that you've caught a strain of an affliction simply called the "Shadow Sickness".

Until then, it'll be a good idea to think of the ways you'll be coping with your symptoms. Perhaps you've got friends and family willing to help with taking care of you, or simply being there to support you. How has your appearance changed in this time? Haruki has invited you to Purity Forest. In the deepest depths of the perilous dungeon, she will be able to cure you of your ailments. It may not be immediate, but slowly, the Shadow Sickness will fade away, leaving behind scars, but your ordeal will finally be over!

Curses can encompass a broad range of topics from vampirism to lycanthropy to even unholy resurrections gone wrong.

It's been a while since you first were afflicted with your curse. Many things in your life have changed; some for the worse though maybe some for the better as well. Still, even with those little pockets of relief, life isn't easy having to deal with the various drawbacks of your condition. Now that you've settled into your new day-to-day routine, how do you cope with the deficits of your curse?

How does a vampire handle the need to consume blood in an ethical way? How might a lycanthrope deal with their transformations under a full moon? Are there any objects that a spirit or undead might be intrinsically linked to that they might have to carry around? Have you somehow found a way to keep all of this hidden from your peers?

Anything immoral, unethical, or that incites violence is off the table -- the GCSF would be quick to act if they were to discover you engaging in such behaviours and they have eyes everywhere. You'll have to find a way to satiate your needs without getting your hands too dirty.

At the beginning of your life, you were attended to by a particular person -- or maybe an entire group of people. They were involved in the story of your creation, and perhaps they stayed close to you for many years after that. They were brilliant at what they did, seeing as they were able to go through the arduous and miraculous process of breathing life into a man-made shell. At times, you receive the question: what was your creator like?

Did you have a good relationship with them? What sort of day-to-day activities did they get up to with you? Did it involve maintenance, studies, and calibrations, or was it more personal and intimate? Maybe you weren't particularly fond of your creators or how you came to be.

The important thing to remember is that your life is now your own. And yet, your mind still can't help but wander...
