MATERIALS:
A sock
Yarn
Needle
Thread
Pieces of felt of different color
A broomstick or PVC pipe
Filling
masking tape or duck tape
Introduction:
Playing with the hobby horse helps develop hand/eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills, imagination, self-awareness, independence, and self-confidence which as they grow will translate into art, music, and creative writing. It can also support your children's critical thinking and decision-making (executive function) and cognitive development.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Fill the sock with the polyester filling.
Insert the wooden stick into the sock and fill if necessary.
Attach the sock to the wooden stick with a piece of yarn or rubber band, making a knot.
Fasten with the masking tape, the excess of the sock to the wooden stick
Cover with the masking tape the extra sock in the wood stick
Trace the parts of the face on the felt and cut them out (2 pcs of white circles and 2 pcs of black smaller circles for the eyes, 2 pcs triangular for the eye lashes, 1 red mouth, 2 brown noses, 2 brown ears).
Make the two eyes joining the black circle on top of the white circle and the eyelashes.
Sew the ears on each side of the head.
Sew the nose and mouth on the front of the sock.
Cut the ribbon into two parts and sew the two ribbons around the face (see image)
Form small strands of yarn and cook them to form the hair of our horse (see image)
Make a braid with the yarn (rein) and sew it on the face to hold. (view image)
