A splash of water slaps me in the face, the cold breeze running past my nose towards my left cheek.
I arose from the floor.
“Where am I?”
“Who am I?”
“What is this place?”
I glance around, my eyes thank me for doing so.
I saw the most beautiful tropical island that Mother Earth could present, I was in heaven.
I took a deep breath and picked myself up off the ground. I looked around for help, I thought maybe I wasn’t the only one here.
I walked for what seemed like hours, until I stopped dead in my tracks.
“Growl” “Rumble”
I was starving.
I scramble through nearby bushes looking for anything to eat, until I found a perfectly fresh berry. I ate to the content of my stomach.
“Ah that was needed, (yawn) but God I sure am tired, I’m going to take a quick nap.”
I passed out.
Minutes, hours, days may have passed before I awoke.
“AH, what happened?!”
“Why did I fall asleep here?”
“Oh well at least I'm rested.”
“I’ll keep walking”
I kept walking to find any sign of help, any sign I'm not alone, anyone at all.
I walked for so long it turned night, a pitch dark scene.
“Damn it sure is dark out here, is that an opening in the rocks?”
“I’ll rest there until the sun rises.”
(Crunch)
I stepped on a leaf, but for some reason I felt like that set my faith, a rush of fear hit my legs making me incapable of moving, and there was this scent of bloodlust in the air.
“Hiss” ”Yelp” “Roar”
I heard all these noises but where did they come from?
“Hello, is anyone there?”
That was my nail in the coffin.
“Screech”
I was lunged at from behind, what felt like claws digging into my thigh, every second I felt them digging into my marrow like it was made of butter.
A thousand needles clenched my shoulder, the pressure of an alligator's bite is what I would describe it as.
I fell to the ground with my face into the dirt and my screams muffled and then fading. I was dying and I accepted that maybe, it was better if I never woke up.
There I laid on the ground becoming a meal to whatever was behind me, what a way to end my story.
“GASP” “COUGH”
“WHERE, WHAT, HOW, WHY, WHO, AH!”
“PLEASE, NO! STOP, STOP, STOP!”
“Wait, I'm alive?”
“But how and why?”
I glanced at my environment once again but this time I wasn’t in a paradise of a glistening beach, I was, somewhere.
A pillar as high as a giant towered over me shining a beam of light down towards a button on a platform made of refined metal.
It looks too well made to be made by nature.
“I don’t know why I’m here but I will find out who put me here and I’ll make sure they suffer what I suffered”
Hence I’m here now, I experienced death, and I hope he who put me here, will as well.”
What inspired me to write this piece is my love for video games and the rush it gives me, the visuals, the actions, just the overall feeling of being a part of the game is a big part in my everyday life, and I wanted other people to see what I feel in a sense of connection between I, the author and you, the reader.
