I saw it in the distance, I felt it near. Then it came, winter was here. As I was finishing my work for college from my dorm. I looked outside my window and saw little kids playing outside. They celebrated in cheer and in happiness. School was closed for the day. And watching the children play outside as the snow started to fall from above. Reminded me of where I was from, where I used to live once.
As a little girl I never really knew what snow was. I never even knew it even existed. That was until I moved to Seattle, Washington. It was a normal day, night suddenly fell and I felt a small gust of cold wind. I didn’t think of it much. But once I woke up my mother told me to look out the window, and when I did I felt as if I were in a Winter Wonderland. I immediately got into warm clothes and headed outside to make a snowman like Frosty the Snowman. After I completed making my snowman I headed back inside to drink hot tea and spend time with my mother while watching a movie.
Looking back to that day brings me good memories and wishing I could go back to being a kid for a few days. As I am now in my 3rd year of college, I can only smile at my childhood. It wasn’t a good one but at least I could always look back and remember the good memories.
What inspired you to write this story?
Thanksgiving break was right around the corner and it started to get cold outside. I don't really know how but a picture of a snowman appeared in my head and I started to think about snow and winter. After a moment the memory of me making a snowman when I was younger suddenly came back to me and made me miss my childhood. And since I was thinking about what to write I decided to write about a childhood memory.
In my short story I am describing what I see in my future and remembering my past. I remember how I used to play and what snow was like for me the first time I experienced it. While in the future winter is coming when I felt the cold wind and snowflakes falling while the little kids started to play. I look back at my memories and when I felt snow for the first time.
"This article is about the author as a child and the author lives in Washington where there is a lot of snow, when the author looks out the window we can imagine how beautiful the scenery in winter is. My favorite part is that the author went back into the house after making the snowman and spent time watching the movie with her mother."
