Voices crowding each other.
Minds completely clear of any thoughts.
Y’all don't even remember how the argument began,
But both continue to think they're right.
Do not let this argument determine the state of the relationship.
Even when things get hard, don’t give up on them.
Y'all's memories, y’all’s secrets shared, are still meaningful.
Don’t drop your love for them over an argument.
There is a light at the end of every tunnel.
You must walk through that tunnel with your significant other.
Step by step y’all walk up the stairs of progress slowly.
I am Melissa Mendoza and I wrote this poem to help those who feel like their relationship is failing due to arguments. I was inspired to write this poem because my former relationship has been through arguments. I wanted to share that an argument shouldn’t get in the way of the relationship between the partners. In my writing I am exploring the theme that a relationship should not be based strictly on the bad times. Such a mistake does not define a person.
