Sometimes having too much faith can make you miserable.
You keep on hoping and reaching for a hand, hoping the light will catch you.
At times we revolve ourselves in a false reality, without a sense of
When will we wake up?
When will I let go?
When will I stop hoping? When will we stop hoping?
When will the light fade?
The light is starting to fade, as your hope is. To hope means to have faith.
You keep on hoping that you will soon want what you want or hope for.
Faith that it will all be over soon
Reality is starting to set in….
The light is gone….
As you wake up you realize it was all a fake dream, a fake reality.
This poem was inspired by the movie “The Great Gatsby.” I felt that I could connect myself through Gatsby as in some parts of the movie he is attracted towards the green light at the end of the dock, symbolizing his hopeless love towards Daisy. I felt that I could relate to him because at some point in my life I loved someone, but through it all I was hopeless to think the relationship could lead somewhere. Therefore, when I wrote this poem, I wanted to symbolize that, how sometimes we block ourselves from reality and the truth, and hang onto a ‘dream’. I wrote this poem to demonstrate and express the idea of the difficulty of letting go from a false reality.
