I've had many opportunities throughout my high school career, but one in particular has shaped me into a better writer and student overall which are my AP classes. I have been taking an English AP class since last year, and it has been a huge opportunity for me in many ways.
I have been able to advance my writing skills, for example learning new vocabulary and being more descriptive in my writing. Before having English AP class in high school I never really knew how to make my writing better. Even in middle school when my teachers would ask me to write an essay, I would never be as detailed and it was difficult for me to improve my writing. I had always loved writing so knowing that I was getting an AP English class in high school got me excited to finally improve my writing skills. In the class I started learning more about how to start my essays, how to be more descriptive, and how to improve my writing overall, which I knew would help me to become a better writer. Even now as a senior in high school, I'm still learning how to make my writing even better than before, which is a challenge sometimes especially when I'm writing essays like these, but having my AP classes definitely helps.
As my time in these classes passed, I truly have seen growth in my writing skills. With every given prompt I see, I immediately start writing, getting tons of ideas and brainstorming for my writing, which was hard for me to do back in middle school. This has shaped me into the person I am today, which is a really inspired writer, and in the future I definitely want to continue writing for my future college or university essays. Not only do we need writing skills for school but for many other things as well that could be outside of school and in your personal life as well.
Writing helps me a lot; every time I'm thinking about something that I want to get off my chest or even a school prompt assignment, I write it down and bury my thoughts into the paper. Writing is a better way to express thoughts and feelings about a subject or anything out there that could possibly interest you. My AP classes really gave me the free time I needed to write and to just relax a bit and bring all my thinking into free writing. At home I do errands and I also work, which makes it a bit difficult for me to have the free time to write but in my English class I do get time, which I really enjoy. I really recommend having classes like these because they can make you improve a huge amount, just like I did.
The idea of this essay is to state how having AP classes could benefit you and your learning in the future, and I'm showing that through my writing with my own experience with having an AP English class for my high school years. Having an AP class for my high school years inspired me to write this piece because I wanted to share my experience with this opportunity that I received as a student, to show how classes like these could help you improve and that they actually work and make you a better learner. My writing process was giving some explanations of how it was difficult for me to expand my reading before having classes like these that could better my learning and reading; then towards the end I explained how having an AP class changed my perspective on writing and helped me be more detailed. I hope that some who have had AP classes before or have them currently can understand how those types of classes can help them improve in the future.
