I have questioned everything even my own existence
Do we even have a purpose in life?
Has everything been a lie from the start?
Is there a deeper meaning for us being alive?
Yet we do everything to destroy each other.
Our DNA is like a recipe book, passing it down generations
But what exactly are we passing down?
Destruction, darkness, curses?
We are said to come from love, warmth, light, laughs…
Yet we do everything to destroy each other.
We were given a beautiful planet to experience the human form
But we are so lost in lust, hatred, and pride.
We can’t see that we are dying along with her.
In my poem, I am exploring inquisitiveness by asking questions we all have wondered about at least once and questions that have not been answered. There is so much we don’t know about us (the human race). We have all been separated from each other by religion, culture, politics, and racism, and we are killing ourselves and bringing earth with us as well. I use the motif “Yet we do everything to destroy each other” because the human race has been repeating this cycle of destruction. I was inspired by the lowest part of my life, when all I had was questions; this helped me to gain a new perspective about life and humans as well. We are all so different yet so similar, and it is a shame that the trust and love we built for each other can be gone the next day.
