Autumn is too loud for me.
The crunching sound of leaves,
pumpkins and pumpkin lattes are everywhere,
everything is so packed.
December's peacefulness speaks to me.
The slow transition of autumn to winter
the smell of Christmas starts pouring down as
bright yellow-orange leaves start to fall from trees.
The sound of howling wind and quietness replacing
the laughter and screams of children.
The smell of cinnamon,
the smell of peppermint,
the quietness,
the cold,
the morning fog,
the empty roads.
It’s peaceful.
The world stops as I lay in my room
making my thoughts slowly drift away,
left with nothing to worry about.
I chose to write a poem about winter as it is my favorite season of all time. The cold weather mixed with the morning fog makes me feel at peace and safe. This feeling inspired me to write this. My writing process started off with a few thoughts about things I like and like to do. As soon as I thought about winter, I started writing as much as I could. I personally enjoy trying out new writing styles and since I’ve never written a poem before, I decided I’d give it a shot and experiment with it.
"I really liked all the sensory language in your poem. It allowed me to "see" and think of winter and all the wonderful things winter has to offer. I also really liked how you stepped out of your comfort zone and chose to do a different style of writing."

"I really liked how you described the season of winter in your poem, how cool and crisp it is, I can imagine it in my head. I also liked how you described a sense of peace and calm in your poem as well. Your poem is really nice! Good job with trying out new things."
