[ALEPH]
I will give thanks to Yahweh with all my heart.

9:3When my enemies turn back,
they will stumble and perish from your presence,
9:4for you maintained justice for me and my cause.
You sit on the throne, judging righteously.
[GIMEL]
9:5You rebuked the nations.
You destroyed the wicked.
You wiped out their name forever and ever.

9:6The enemy is finished, desolations into perpetuity.
And you have uprooted cities.
The remembrance of them has perished.

9:7And Yahweh will remain forever.
He established his throne for justice.
9:8And he will judge the world in righteousness.
He will adjudicate for the peoples in uprightness.
9:9And Yahweh will be a refuge for the oppressed,

10:4The wicked in pride of countenance does not seek [God],
there is no God [in] all of his plans.
10:5His ways cause pain every time.
Your judgements are far away from his sight.
All his enemies, he snorts at them.
10:6He says in his heart, “I will not be shaken from generation to generation. [I will] not [be] in calamity.”
10:7His mouth is full [of] swearing and deceit and oppression.
Underneath his tongue [is] trouble and guilt.

The nations have perished from his land.
[TAV]
10:17You have heard the desire of the poor, Yahweh.
You will prepare their heart.
You will incline your ear to hear,
10:18to do justice for the fatherless and the oppressed
He will no more terrorise man from the land.

An old textual tradition links Psalms 9 and 10 together just as 42 and 43 are linked together. This is based on Psalm 9 and 10 together being a partial and somewhat irregular acrostic poem (cf. Psalm 37). Psalm 9 has the first half of the letters, aleph to kaph, though omitting dalet. Psalm 10 has the remnants of the second half, being lamed, the qoph, resh, shin, and tav. The LXX and Vulgate (and some Hebrew manuscripts) treat them as one psalm.

On the rendering ‘the death of the Son’ in 9:1, a number of Hebrew mss make the form עַלְמ֥וּת into two words, עַל מוּת, “according to death”. Others take the phrase as a single musical term of unknown meaning and transliterate. The LXX renders it ‘the secrets of the son’. Aquila renders it “the youth of the son”. Rashi comments: “Some interpret לבן על מות, on the death of Absalom, but this interpretation is not plausible because he [David] states: לבן; he does not state הבן. Others interpret על מות לבן [as referring to] Nabal. Neither is this plausible, to invert the name.” Rashi himself says, “I saw in the Great Masorah that it is one word, judging by the fact that it is compared to (below 48:15): ‘He will lead us as in youth (על מות).’ […] But I say that this song, למנצח על מות לבן, is for the future, when the childhood and the youth of Israel will be brightened; their righteousness will be revealed and their salvation will draw near, that Esau and his seed will be erased, according to our Torah. […] על מות means childhood. לבן is like ללבן, to whiten”: https://www.chabad.org/library/bible_cdo/aid/16230/showrashi/true/jewish/Chapter-9.htm#lt=both.
