146:1
Praise Yah!
Praise Yahweh, O my soul!
146:2
Let me praise Yahweh while [I am] alive.
Let me make music to my God while [I] continue [to live].
146:3
Do not trust in princes,
in a son of man in whom there is no salvation.
146:4
His breath goes out, he returns to his ground;
on that very day his plans perish.
146:5
Blessed is he for whom the God of Jacob [is] his help;
his hope [rests] upon Yahweh his God.
146:6
[He is the one] making heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything that is in them,
the one keeping faithfulness forever,
146:7
[the one] doing judgement for the oppressed,
giving bread to the hungry,
Yahweh, [the one] freeing prisoners
146:8
Yahweh, [the one] opening [the eyes of the ones who are] blind,
Yahweh, [the one] lifting up [the] ones bowed down,
Yahweh, [the one] loving [those who are] righteous,
146:9
Yahweh, [the one] watching over sojourners,
[the] widow and [the] orphan relieving,
and the way of the wicked he thwarts.
146:10
Yahweh will reign forever,
your God, O Zion, from generation to generation.
Praise Yah!

Psalm 146:5a WLC SNC אַשְׁרֵ֗י שֶׁ֤אֵ֣ל יַעֲקֹ֣ב בְּעֶזְרֹ֑ו
Psalm 146:5a MOMT Blessed is he for whom the God of Jacob [is] his help;
[The noun אַ֭שְׁרֵי in Book Five occurs in 112:1; 119:1-2; 127:5; 128:1-2; 137:8-9; 144:15; 146:5. The noun עֵ֫זֶר occurs 21 times in the OT. It means ‘help, assistance, support, aid’. It occurs, in the Psalms, in Psalms 20:2; 89:19; 121:1-2; 124:8 meaning ‘the assistance God renders’ and in Psalms 33:20; 70:5; 115:9-11; 146:5, as a title and description for God himself in his relationship to his people. It’s background, apart from describing the first woman Eve as a helper (Gen 2:18, 20), is particularly found in Deut 33:7, 26, 29. The name ‘Eliezer’ means ‘My God is helper’ (Exod 18:4), the name of Moses’ second son.].
Psalm 146:5b WLC SNC שִׂ֝בְר֗וֹ עַל־יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהָֽיו׃
Psalm 146:5b MOMT His hope [rests] upon Yahweh his God.
[The rare noun שֵׂבֶר (seber), from verb שָׂבַר, only occurs twice, in Psalm 119:116 and 146:5, and means ‘a hope, an expectation’ The cognate verb in Qal means ‘inspect, examine’ (Neh 2:13, 15), and in the Piel means ‘wait, hope’. It is a reasonably rare verb, with only 8 occurrences in the Old Testament, perhaps an Aramaic loan word. The Piel in Psalms 104:27; 119:166; 145:15, Isaiah 38:18, Esther 9:1, Ruth 1:13, means to wait for or hope in someone or something.]
