For the director. Belonging to the sons of Korah. A composition.
Psalm 85:1
You favoured your land, Yahweh
You returned a captive of Jacob.
Psalm 85:2
You lifted away the guilt of your people.
You covered all their sin.
Psalm 85:3
You gathered all your fury.
You caused your burning of anger to turn back.
Psalm 85:4
We must return, God of our salvation,
And break your anger with us.
Psalm 85:5
Is it forever you are angry with us?
Do you prolong your anger from generation to generation?
Psalm 85:6
Will you not return?
Will you not preserve us?
And your people will rejoice in you
Psalm 85:7
We must show your covenant faithfulness, Yahweh
And your salvation you give us.
Psalm 85:8
I hear what the God Yahweh said,
For he said peace to his people and to his faithful ones
And they will not return to stupidity.
Psalm 85:9
Surely near to those who fear him [is] his salvation
To settle/dwell glory in our land.
Psalm 85:10
Covenant faithfulness and reliability meet together.
Righteousness and peace kiss.
Psalm 85:11
Reliability from earth sprouts
And righteousness from heaven looks down.
Psalm 85:12
Also, Yahweh gives the good
And our land gives her produce.
Psalm 85:13
Righteousness goes before him
And he sets his feet to the way.
