17:1
A prayer of David.
Hear, Yahweh, righteous one.
Pay attention to my howling.
Give ear to my prayer [which is] without lips of deceit
17:2
My judgement goes out from your presence.
Let your eyes see uprightnesses.
17:3
You examine my heart.
You visit at night.
You refine me.
You do not find.
I devise.
My mouth does not transgress.
[My mouth does not pass over/my mouth doesn’t utter the words].
17:4
to the works of man with a word of your lips,
I will watch the paths of a violent one.
17:5
To establish a foothold with my steps in your trench.
My steps will not be shaken.
17:6
I call you because you will answer me.
O God incline your ear to me,
Hear my word.
17:7
Do wonderously your covenant faithfulnesses, saviour.
Refugees from those who rise up with your right hand.
17:8
Watch me like the pupil of the daughter of an eye.
In the shadow of your wings you will hide me
17:9
From the face of the wicked tis destroys me,
My enemies in life surround me
17:10
Their fat shuts their mouth.
They speak with majesty/arrogance.
17:11
Our steps now surround us [or me, ketib qere]
They set their eyes to possess the land.
17:12
His likeness is like a lion
He long to tear
And like a young lion he dwells in secret places.
17:13
Rise up Yahweh.
Confront his face.
Cause him to bow down.
Deliver my life from the wicked [with] your sword.
17:14
From men, your hand, Yahweh
From men for the duration/world
Their seductiveness with living ones/animals
And you fill their belly with your treasure
Sons are satisfied
And they give rest,
Their excess to their children.
17:15
I in righteousness will see your face,
I will be satisfied when I awake your form.
