A fool says in his heart, “There is not God”
They ruin and they do abominable evil
There is no doing good.

God from the heaves looks down upon the sons of Adam to see,
“Is there an insightful person seeking God?”

Each one backslides
Together they are corrupted.
There is no one doing good,
There is not even one.

Do they not know workers of wickedness [are] eaters of my people.
They eat bread.
They do not call on God.

There they dread dread.
There is no dread
For God scatters bones of those besieging you
You put to shame
for God rejects them.
14:1
For the director.
Of David.
A fool says in his heart, “There is no God’.
They cause ruin.
They do abominable things.
There is no-one doing good.
14:2
Yahweh from the heavens crouches down to look upon the sons of man,
to see ‘Is there a wise one (maschil) seeking God?’
14:3
Has each one turned aside?
Together they have become corrupt.
There is none doing good.
There is not even one.

Do all the workers of wickedness not know?
Eating my people, they eat bread. [Comparative structure ‘They eat my people like the eat bread’.]
They do not call, ‘Yahweh’.
14:5
There they dread dread
For God is with a righteous generation.
14:6
You [pl] put to shame the counsel of the afflicted
because Yahweh is their refuge,
14:7
who gives from Zion [the] salvation of Israel
when Yahweh turned back the captivity of his people.
Let Jacob rejoice.
Let Israel be happy.
