49:1
For the director of music. For the sons of Korah. A song.
49:2
Hear this, all the peoples.
Give ear, all those who dwell in the world,
49:3
even sons of Adam, even sons of a man,
together the rich and the poor.
49:4
My mouth will wisdoms and meditations,
My heart understandings.
49:5
My ears leans towards a riddle.
I will unlock an enigma with my lyre.
49:6
Why should I fear days of evil.
The guilt of those at my heels surround me.
49:7
The ones who trust in their power
And in the multitude of their riches they glory.
49:8
A brother can certainly not ransom a man
He cannot give to God for his atonement.
49:9
A ransom for their life is precious,
And it ceases forever.
49:10
And he will live on forever
He will not see the pit
49:11
For he sees the wise,
They die together with an idiot.
And a brute they serve
And they leave to those who come after their wealth/strength.
49:12
Their insides of their houses forever,
Their dwellings/tents from generation to generation they call with their names over the grounds/earths/dirts [burial plots]
49:13
And man for a price will not lodge/stay.
Like animals he is cut off.
49:14
This is their way.
It is stupid for them
And of those that come after them who are pleased with their mouth [i.e., what they say].
Selah.
49:15
Like sheep for sheol they are set.
Death pastures them.
And upright go down with them to the morning
Their image wears out.
Sheol is more than flies for him.
49:16
Surely God will ransom my soul
From the hand of sheol
For he receives me.
Selah.
49:17
Don’t fear,
Because he causes a man to be rich,
When he increases the glory of his house.
49:18
For he does not when he dies take the lot.
For his honour does not go down after him.
49:19
For he blesses his life while he is living,
And you praise when you do good for yourself
49:20
He comes to the generation of his father.
He will not see light forever.
