55:1
For the director. With music. A wisdom song belonging to David.
55:2
Give ear, O God, to my prayer, and do not hide yourself from my supplication.
55:3
Pay attention to me and answer me.
I am unsettled [wandering in my bush, ramp] and I am distressed.
55:4
From the voice of an enemy,
from the face of the pressure of the wicked,
because they dislodge trouble onto me,
and with anger they hate me.
55:5
My heart writhes inside me,
And terrors of death fall upon me.
55:6
Fear and trembling has come in me,
And shuddering overwhelms/covers me.
55:7
And I said, ‘who will give me wings?’
I will fly like a dove
And I will settle.
55:8
Behold, I will cause to go far away to retreat.
Let me lodge in the wilderness. Selah.
55:9
Let me hasten an escape for me,
From the wind rushing forth from the storm.
55:10
Swallow, my Lord.
Divide their tongue
For I see violence
and a dispute in a city.
55:11
Daytime and night they surround her on her walls
And trouble and sorrow are in her midst.
55:12
Destruction in her midst
And it doesn’t depart from her plaza, oppression and treachery.
55:13
For it is not an enemy who reproaches me,
Then I would bear it,
It is not he who hates me who makes me great
Then I will hidden from him.
55:14
And you are a man,
According to my rank
My close friend
and who is known by me.
55:15
Who together we made sweet counsel in the house of God
we walked with the crowd
55:16
Let death come upon him
They go down to Sheol alive
For evils are in their dwelling in their midst.
55:17
I cried unto God and Yahweh saved me.
55:18
Evening and morning and noon
I will complain and murmur
And he will hear my voice.
55:19
He ransoms in peace my life/soul from battle to me,
For I am among many; they are with me.
55:20
God hears
And he answer them
And dwells before
Selah.
Which there is no changes with him
And they do not fear God.
55:21
He sends out his hand with his complete payback, retribution
He pollutes/profanes his covenant
55:22
They smooth curd like [smooth as butter] his mouth
And a battle of his heart
His words are tender, more tender than oil,
And they [have] drawn swords,
55:23
Throw on Yahweh your lot, [Roll upon Yahweh your burden]
And he will support
And he will not permit the righteous to totter
55:24
And you will cause them to go down to a pit of pit [the deepest pit
They are men of bloods
And with treachery they do not divide their day
And I trust in you.
